Best of Luck with all your weddings!

Danielle

P.S. Only reason we aren't getting married there is because my fiance is Dominican and we want his family there to come to the wedding. So we are looking into DR's Iberostars :)

Danielle, best of luck to you too! Iberostar is a GREAT chain. Enjoy your planning, this is definitley the exciting part. =)

Rose,

We concentrated on low season (cheaper) without it being too hot in Mexico and not rainy season.

Call you travel agent for those time...for us the last week in April into the first week in May was PERFECT. Our other option was the first week in December. Prices dropped that week.(after thanksgiving)

I've stayed at the Del Mar and the Lindo so I can't really comment on the Maya. But here are some things I can tell you.

In order of cheapest to most expensive:

Del Mar/Beach

Lindo

Maya

Grand

In terms of access, it goes the opposite:

Grand (access to all)

Maya (access to Lindo, Del Mar/Beach)

Lindo (access to Del Mar/Beach

Del Mar/Beach (only access to each other)

Pools:

Del Mar/Beach share a LARGE pool

Lindo/Maya share many separate pools.

I personally like the pools at the Del Mar/Beach because it's all connected. You don't have to get out of your pool to go to the swim up bar, 'just swim' =) At the lindo/maya, you get up and out to go the 'main' pool with the (1) swim up bar. Del Mar/Beach have 3

Restaurants:

We liked the Japanese at the Del Mar the BEST, and the gourmet is delicious!

And we also liked the Cajun at the Lindo. BUT you can go to the Japanese (and any Del Mar rest.) if you are at the Lindo/Maya because you have access to those resorts.

Rooms:

I honestly couldn't tell you the difference in size (specifically) between the Del Mar and Lindo, but there was a difference, rather small. The Lindo had an extra door in between the bathroom, closet and refrigerator/coffee machine area connecting to the main room. But both had the kind size bed and couch, chair and coffee table before the balcony.

I did see hammocks on the balcony's at the Maya, that's pretty cool =)

Tripadvisor.com is GREAT. Lots of pictures and current reviews.

Good Luck!

Looking through invitations sites...any recommendations?
ITS so exciting Shannon isn't it! I'm at a lull right now....not much to do. I was planning my invites on wedding paper divas.com....but I am going CHEAP- as we're sending invites to everyone thats invited to our AHR as to not leave anyone out....so thats 208 people, or at least 110 invitations.
I found the cheapest actually at davids bridal online. So...I've done my template and written them up. Now I just need the $600+ dollars and I'll get them. I want to mail out in January....

There are so many gorgeous invitations and so many creative ideas...but it just adds up so much, and with so many to buy- and response cards, envelopes, stamps... I would so love to do the cool invites like others get on here, but in the end they really end up in the trash eventually!
I'll live vicariously!

Amy, I hear you. They do end up in the trash. No body will remember your invitiations, BUT they will remember MEXICO!!!!!!!

We are getting them out in January as well. Hopefully we'll see many people over the holidays to get them excited and then the invites and then they'll book =) Sounds like a plan =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
