Just us going, need a location!

Recommended Posts

After many months of planning & arguing with family members about a DW, we have decided to just go & do it just us, without telling anyone.. Out MOH & BM will prob join us, but we have decided to def scratch all big plans & just do a big AHR when we get home.. Does anyone know of a nice reasonable AI in Jamaica that would be able to do this for us? or would our best bet be to just book a trip & go outside of our resort to have the actual wedding?

Well lots of ladies go to the RIU resorts. I've been to the Ochos Rios and my wedding is planned for the Riu in Negril, in Jamaica. Riu's have great wedding packages, even a free wedding packing which you would certainly qualify for as there will be only 4 of you. Check it out.

Have fun and good luck planning! :)

I definitely agree with Lisa in that Riu's have some pretty affordable packages. You could definitely go with the free package.

I just came back from ROR and it is just as beautiful now as it was when I got married there last year.

Definitely take some time to browse the Jamaica threads and look at reviews & pics of recent weddings. There's a wealth of info around!

Whichever resort you chose, I hope you guys have an amazing time.

We picked Couples Sans Souci - it looked like the more intimate of the properties and had a free wedding package. Lots of wedding pictures I looked at for the other AIs seemed to have a lot of on-lookers in the background and I think I would be uncomfortable with that. I'm sure we'll have people around but the beach location at CSS is off to the side of the beach and I don't think we'll have any people walking through the background!

Couples also lets us bring our own photographer (even though we have to pay $$$ to do it) and that was important to me.

We're going to have just our parents and my sister and her husband there so it's a small group similar to yours.

Good luck finding one you like :-)

Hello Back in Feb when I started planning my wedding I was seriousy looking at the RIU's unfortunally you needed to book several rooms to get the free package. Without the free package it was going to cost $800.00. I started looking at couples. I thought if I am going to spend $800.00 I might as well stay at couples and put that 800 into the cost of the resort and take the free wedding package. I looked at many photos and was very happy with the looks of the wedding at couples. In the long run we decided to go with couples. It cost a little more then the RIU resorts to stay, but with everything that was included and the no tipping policy I figure we were not really going to spend a whole lot more then we did going to the 3 star ( we usually go to in Mobay) and tipping all week and also paying for the glass bottom boat trip, water sking, catamarane cruise, which all are included in the resorts cost! Getting married two weeks from today at CSA!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
