Hi all,

I've never joined any forum before..... tips are most welcome!!

Darryl and I are getting married in Jamaica, Negril on February 23 (Date to be confirmed). We are having a heck of time deciding on the resort but plan to book by the end of this week. We are torn between Grand Lido, Negril and Sandals, Negril. Our friends don't want to stay at either because of the price and are looking for cheaper options. Any suggestionshuh.gif? We will just get everyone day passes to the resort ($$$$). Sigh... I have now discovered that I can't please everyone....or anyone at this moment. hahahaha

Hi Maggie! This was my first forum as well - it gets VERY addictive!!! I'm getting married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica but considered Negril - so I do have some info if you need any help! Amanda is getting married at one of the Riu's in Negril - she'll be happy to see you on here!! Speaking of Riu's - they are a little cheaper than GL & Sandals, they may want to check that out. My personal favorite (and top choice!) when we were considering Negril was Sunset at the Palms - VERY nice!!! Check out some posts in the Jamaica folder, we have lots of info there!

Good luck with your plans, and look forward to hearing more of your stories!!!

Hey Maggie! Welcome to the forum!! cheesy.gif I have been to other forums before, but this is the only one I have ever stayed with longer than a week... and checked obsessively. Everyone here is so nice, and incredibly helpful. This forum has helped me SO much with my wedding planning, and I'm still 11 months away!! Anyways, I sound like a commercial, but I'm proud to be a member of this forum (even if my 1800+ posts say I'm a geek!!) - I'm sure you'll love it here.

I'm sorry, I don't have any information on Jamaica... but I really want to go! lol. There are a few brides here that are having their wedding in Jamaica, including Heidi, who I see has already posted.

Let us know if you have any questions!! :)

Courtney - depending on how badly you want to go, you can always crash a wedding on 4/4 in Ocho Rios.... wink.gif

Welcome!! Before you know it you'll be crusing around this forum like an old pro! After you play for a little bit you'll get the hang of it. Plus it's laid out really well.

I hear ya on the can't please anyone bit. We are just confirming our date after months, seriously like 3 months of looking around and researching. But it seems that after you have the location nailed down it gets a little easier. Or, at least, a little less stressful. Not everyone is going to be happy no matter what. IE my aunt HATES puerto vallarta because the last time she went there she sprained her ankle, and hence says she will not come to our wedding. Too bad for her then!!

Anyway, I'm rambling. Good luck deciding!!

Welcome Maggie! If you are only going to be part of one forum, this is the way to go!!

I've only visited Jamaica via crusie ship, so I'm not much of a help as far as resorts go... sorry! I hope that you are able to find some good information though!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
