Do you know anything about Iberostar Dominicana?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Iberostar Dominicana. I went to a couple of travel agents and this one has the best price. It seems to have pretty good reviews (nothing about weddings, though) and I know the Iberostars have a good reputation but I don't see anything on here about Dominicana.

Also, what are the major differences between the Iberostars (Dominicana, Bavaro, Punta Cana, La Romana) including prices? I thought Dominicana was in Punta Cana. Are there just two in Punta Cana?

I'm just looking for as much info as I can get because we're about to make a decision. I really like this one but FI thinks we can do better for the same price. Any thoughts?

Thanks!!!!

We stayed at the Iberostar Dominicana last year and it was fabulous. The Dominicana, Punta Cana, and Bavaro are all a part of the same resort. The Dominicana and Punta Cana are basically the same thing. The rooms are in towers like 3 or 4 floors high. They upgraded our room to the Bavaro side which have rooms that are in like villa style buildings, only 4 rooms per building, 2 on each floor. Even though our room was on the Bavaro side we could only eat at the buffet and restaurants that go with the Punta Cana and Dominicana which was totally fine with us. They had great food there and tons of seafood. They cooked piayya(sw) on the beach several times a week with lobster, shrimp, and mussels. I'm sorry I can't tell you anything about the weddings because we didn't see any or look at anything like that while we were there but it was a great resort. Lots of beach to walk in both directions and the entertainment staff was wonderful as well.

I am getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro in January 2010. I don't know much about the other two Iberostars, but the Dominicana and the Punta Cana are about $200 cheaper per night, so a lot of my guests have opted to stay in one of those instead of the Bavaro. I am double checking this, but only Bavaro guests can use Dominicana and Punta Cana restaurants and amenities. Dominicana and Punta Cana guests can't come over to the Bavaro. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
