  1. I am getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro in January 2010, and I'm really excited! The great thing about Iberostar resorts is that they have a one wedding per day policy, so you are the main priority on your wedding day and don't have to compete with other weddings for service. I've heard some resorts book up to 6 different weddings in a single day!
  2. I'm getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro in January 2010. I haven't seen much info on their weddings, but all the guests seem to love it.
  3. I am getting married at the Iberostar Bavaro in January 2010. I don't know much about the other two Iberostars, but the Dominicana and the Punta Cana are about $200 cheaper per night, so a lot of my guests have opted to stay in one of those instead of the Bavaro. I am double checking this, but only Bavaro guests can use Dominicana and Punta Cana restaurants and amenities. Dominicana and Punta Cana guests can't come over to the Bavaro. Hope this helps!
  4. Does it matter if your TA is from another state or area?
  5. I am having the same problem. 2010 land rates are really high. What is stopping us from waiting until the last minute to book, when all the travel specials are in place? I might just book 10 rooms now for immediate wedding party and family, and tell everyone else to shop around for travel deals and specials as we get closer to the date.
  6. Thanks for all your feedback! I am getting more comfortable with this. If people can make it- great, if not, I'm not going to hold it against them! What are your thoughts on airport transfers? My guests would have about a 7-hour flight with one transfer, but I don't see any other closer options to Washington, DC. I really like the Majestic Elegance/Colonial and don't want to say no just because of the travel time! After all, it is supposed to be a get away!
  7. Hi All, Majestic Colonial and Elegance are my top choices as of now for a destination wedding in early January 2010. (I haven't even picked a resort yet, should I be worried) These are the land rates my TA gave me. Do these sound reasonable to you? They seem really pricey, and flying out of DC, she said the round trip flights would be between $450-$550 per person. Love to know what you think about this...$1000 for just 3 nights seems like too much to ask of my guests. 8. Hi All, I am thinking of having my wedding at the Majestic. Do you know what the percentage applies to for the different reception options? For example, it says $55 + 26% per person. 26% of what? the total? is that like a tip? Thanks for any light you can shed on this!
  9. oooh Jennifer, I would love to see pictures! There is this river/lake that runs around the resort and it looks very green and swampy. Please tell me that is not the case in person!
  10. Hey Julie, Grand Palladium is one of my top choices too, but I got the same response when I emailed them for 2010 availability. I want to send my save the dates soon and cannot do that until the location is 100% confirmed. I'm going to try and put a little more pressure on them, but if we have to wait until May, I'm going to move on to another resort. Citydryms
  11. Hi All! I'm so excited to be a part of this forum! I have been reading posts all weekend, and everyone is just so helpful! I am planning on getting married the first week of January 2010 and am looking at resorts in the Riviera Maya. Right now, I am torn beetween Barcelo Maya and the Grand Palladium Kataneh and am hoping the forum can help me make a decision asap! So excited! CityDryms
