If we can we'll just ask the judge to skip the rings part. In fact we have no readings or vows either. I just need the darn paper so I can get the free champagne and bath robes on my honeymoon!! I'm calling tomorrow to ask them what I need, but I think it's fairly simple. There are like 6 courthouses in L.A. that schedule them every 15 minutes so it can't be too involved.
Jamy you have to take pictures!!!! Do you need a witness? I can stop by. LOL

We were married at our county courthouse the Monday before we left. I think each state is different, but for us it was a cinch. We showed up, filled out the application, showed the clerk our ID's -- she made us take an oath and then told us that she would meet us in their small almost booth-like chapel. We went in, she put on a robe and performed a short, sweet ceremony. We did not exchange rings or do anything special. We did not need a witness. And we didn't dress up. It was a cold day so I was in a black juicy sweatsuit. Really romantic, I know. wink.gif

I'll only take pictures if I decide to look presentable that day - HA! My poor friend who can't make it to Mexico is one witness and my brother is supposed to be the other - but stop on by if you wish! LAX courthouse 1pm! LMAO!! We'll be the couple in the corner with our flask shots.gif

Right now that sounds good to me, it's been kinda gloomy lately so my original idea of a white happy dress may turn into my good sweats a ponytail and flip flops! If I'm feeling sporty I may throw on earrings...hehehe

I'm have just started planning. Do some people get legally married ahead of time & then fly to mexico for a ceremony? If you do this, what do you consider your wedding date? I'm trying to figure out the details to get married in mexico, but i'm wondering if its just easier to do it in advance.

definitely! some do it before, some do it after. i did it after - we just did it on our honeymoon in Hawaii. i think that most people use their wedding ceremony as their wedding date, not the date that it was made legal. that's what we're doing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
