confused, confused...help!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We are still on the hunt for a wedding location in Jamaica...

choices are as follows:

Half Moon

rose hall

sunset beach

sunset jamaica grande

( we where impressed with ROR - but after soom research i have learnt that you need a minimum number of guests and i am not sure how many guests will come yet?)

Not sure which one to go for? Has anyone got an advice, tips, experiences at any of these locations...

I suppose our next hurdle when we have decided is who will come to the wedding and who will 'definetly' come to the wedding. fun and games :-)

any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Nay!

I can totally relate to being confused. I just chose my resort a couple of weeks ago. It was really hard. I knew I wanted to get married in Jamaica, just not exactly where. I decided on Negril because I thought I would get the best beach pics there since I want to get married in the sand on the beach. I chose Sunset at the Palms because I called all of my choices and spoke with the wedding coordinators. I chose the resort that had a coordinator that I thought I could work with. I received help from onestop. I got their infor from trip advisor. They have Onestop Negril, OR, MoBay and Port Antonio. The TA there was so helpful and I haven't even booked with her yet. I booked my wedding first so I could be sure to get my date. She gave me the names and numbers of the wedding coordinators and the resorts that I was interested in and suggested that I call them. Great advice!

The Sunset properties seem to do a pretty good job. I recommend calling each one that you are interested in and speaking with the coordinators. I also read the reviews of the resorts on trip advisor. I have been in contact with several brides from this site and trip advisor who got married at my resort. They can answer lots of questions and have plenty of insight. I hope this helps. I am new to this site but have received my best info from these ladies.

Good luck!

I think in terms of luxury and services the order is as follow, having stayed at all of them. Half Moon (top notch) even over the Ritz carlton, Rose Hall (Hilton owns it now, so it is newly renovated). Not too keen on Sunset Beach and SJG, but would follow in that order. I would place the RIUS along with Rose Hall so a tie for second place. Our budget was very tight so we went with the RIU over Rose Hall. Round Hill, which is another fabulous options is another recommendation. Best of Luck!

That was the hardest thing for me and I went through just about every Island there is but while looking in Jamaica I liked Round Hill the most. Half Moon seemed a little pricey and can't remember what I did't like about Rose Hall. But I also crossed off any resort that held more than one wedding a day, that help me narrow down my list. Good Luck!!!

Hi Nay,

I was in the same place about a week ago that you are right now. My FI and I had so many different factors to consider, number of people going, cost, kid-friendly and above all some place that we could see ourselves getting married. We considered resorts all over the Caribbean and Mexico and changed where we thought we were going quite a few times.

We finally decided on the Rose Hall Resort and Spa this week and are so excited about it. They have basically everything that we were looking for, we have read great reviews and know people who have stayed at the resort and raved about it. I guess it doesn't hurt that they just underwent a HUGE renovation as well!

I think the most important thing that you have to keep in mind is that this is your wedding and YOU and YOUR FIANCE have to pick the resort that is the right fit for the wedding that you envision!

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
