Hi All! My name is Mimi... and I'm getting married at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian on June 21, 2009.

We have anywhere between 20-30 people attending and I need more info!!!

So if any of you have been married at the Sandals resort I have these questions:

1) In your opinion, which is the best area to have the ceremony? I've heard that the beach weddings are not that private

2) I am thinking about paying the extra $75 per person to have the private reception dinner. Has anyone done this and is it worth it? Where do they set this up? And if I wanted dancing... how is this done? Do we have to hire a DJhuh.gif?

4) Is it possible to get the aisle (where I will walk down to get married) spreaded w/ rose petalshuh.gif?

I just have no idea of how this is going to look or go... it's so hard to get info from them! I'm mainly worried for my reception. My guests are paying a lot of $ to see us get married, and I wanted at least something special... so they don't go all the way out for a 20 minute ceremony.

Anyways, any and all info is welcome! Thanks!

Hey Mimi!!! Congrats!!

I was not a St Lucian Bride ... but a Beaches bride in Jamaica... and since the chain runs pretty similar on all weddings... maybe I can help you on a few things.

Miami WC's - OOOOO so not helpful I feel your pain on this!! They did not help with anything in getting me info, and honestly it terrified me to no end not knowing. They are really just trying to sell everything and push the sales before you arrive.

I ended up waiting till I got down to the resort for pretty much everything. Only thing I was certain about was that I did not forgo the whole extra $75 charge for a private reception. I did go with a semi private cocktail hr for $15 and booked that before we left for Jamaica. One thing with it was I got to pick on the grounds exactly where I wanted it.... It was completely private!! We did not have a DJ or anything .. but we did use their sound system for our dances and such along with our Ipod. We had our own pool deck raised from everyone as our reception location. After that we went and had dinner reservations at the buffet where they reset everything from our cocktail hr .. chair covers sashes everything to recreate the theme. It was amazing.

It was hard for me not to plan anything really... but once I got down I was able to see the locations for myself ... meet with the WC only a day later and have everything picked out in less than an hr.

One thing I have noticed is that Sandals and Beaches are not very giving at all when it comes to showing off their wedding stuff ... it's a big secret pretty much the whole time. You will be able to get through it....

Oh and check out TripAdvisor and You Tube... I met a bunch of girls that married at my resort... they were super helpful in leting me know all about the resort, since I was the only Beaches Negril bride here on the forum. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
