Booking the date for Riu Jamaica

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I have decided on having my wedding at one of the Riu Hotels in Jamaica. I just haven't made up my mind on which one to go to. Has anyone visit any of these hotels? My hubby to be and he's family has never been out of Canada before so I want this trip to be very special for them. Also I would like to have the wedding in May, 2010. Do you think I could book the date now, and if I need to change the date or hotel they will let me without getting charged?

Thanks for your help!

You can book your date now but they will only hold it for 30 days unless you have a room booked and can finalize it. ROR is very popular for weddings and lots of people have great things to say about it. If your looking for something a bit fancier Riu Tropical Bay (in Negril) just became a Palace resort and is supposed to be really nice. There are alot of reviews on these resorts with pictures you can check out :)

Congratulations by the way :)

I booked my ror date a week ago thursday and had my confirmation the next day. I quickly went on line to book my room (dec 2010) only to find out the prices are not even out for that date. Another bride on here had the same problem (there is another thread about that here) she emailed the person in charge of booking the wedding dates and they gave her an extension for 60 days so I did the same thing. What I plan on doing is what I think YoursTruly09 was mentioning is, book just a standard room for 1 week and then when the packages come out in may or so book a 2 week stay in the jr suite.

If you are stuck on a date and time I would go ahead and book it before the date was taken.

We had to wait until April for the prices to come out. From what I can tell the Riu Ocho Rios is the most popular. I think it's the biggest resort and there are tons of reviews on here about it. Riu Tropical Bay seems too be the nicer/fancier one and the beaches are the most beautiful there. If you're looking to be close to the airport (10 minutes) and still get the Riu quality then Riu MoBay is the one for you!

sweety - I checked the rui hotel booking site and the only thing they asked for was a credit card number. it stated that the credit card would not be charged until arrival or 1 nights charge if cancelled less then 2 days prior.

If booking thru a travel agent they will require a deposit. I am not sure how much you would have to contact your TA

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
