Finally went to the dermo

-Kate-

Recommended Posts

I finally went to the dermatologist today to find out what I should do about my skin (zits). He gave me a prescription for Retin-A. I used it in high school and it worked well for me. It's not like I have big zits all over, it's just that my skin is never smooth. There are always little bumps all over and the occasional big ol' zit. So, we'll see how it works!

Anyone else on it?

I'm on Retin-A. I used it every day for a while last fall, but had to drop down to every other day because my face was always red & peely. I like it now- probably only use it every other/ every third day and it works well for me. I also spot treat if I get any breakouts with Benzaclin, but I have to say that I haven't had any for quite a while...better find some wood to knock on!

I am not a big fan of that stuff. The Dr. tried to give it to me and I stopped it immediatly. I then went on Accutane, which is really strong stuff. My skin is breaking out as well. I think it is because I am stressing out about everything. It is driving me crazy!!!

What didn't you like? Did you like Accutane better?

I didn't like the way it made my skin look. It got very red and very dry and crusty looking. It was awful.

Accutane is the strongest stuff you can get to treat acne. They usually give it to those with sever cases. But let me tell it took away every single simple that I had and it made every oil disappear. I couldn't wash my hair everyday because I had no oils. It has it's pros and cons.

All through highschool and what not I never got zits. It wasn't until I was in my 20s that I started breaking out. So I tried every face wash out there and nothing worked. I tried the rentin a stuff for a short time but I broke out even worse. Finally I decided to go the natural route. I started taking a dialy mulit vitamin and drinking TONS of water. I also got Dove Senstivie Skin face wash and Oil of Olay senstive skin face lotion and I'm free and clear. I really thing the water is the trick. I drink TONS, and I mean TONS of it everyday.

I hope it works for you though! Breakingout is no fun :sad.gif

See - that's the disciplined, smart person way to do it! I'm not ready to make actual life changes, I just want a magic cream!!! Someday I'll be smart and just drink more water.

popping one multi vitamin and filling a water glass isn't exaclty diciplined! I don't have the diciplined gene in my body. It took work at first to force myself to drink lots of water, but I totally noticed a change in my skin so when I wasn't drinking lots of H20 I broke out. That was enough to get me to drink more. Now my body is so used to it, I crave water big time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
