jenjoe08 brings up a good point. If you do decide to ship, it is really important to use the company your WC or hotel recommends. Different islands have different quality of franchises. For instance here if you send UPS or DHL you may see the item 2-3 months later, we always ship via Fed ex to the T&C. Another island may be the opposite. Don't go with the cheapest option, go with the option the locals tell you to go with!

Keep the original invoices, make a copy to go with the package and send a copy to the WC or person who will be clearing it. We usually send one invoice in the package and one to go with the package paperwork.

That is your best bet, I have had some nightmares with customs not releasing shipments in a timely fashion, all it takes is for one careless agent in whatever island you are shipping to to lose the invoice and you have days of waiting. Not to mention duties and taxes.

Also, if any of your party favors are going to be wrapped, you may want to wait until you arrive before you wrap them. Even if it is clear you may possibly run into an issue with tsa ripping stuff open.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was hoping to give most of our items to our guests and leave the rest the items with my family members so maybe we can just pack them and carry them down with us. I don't think that there will be a ton of stuff, but I'd rather have my items with me, then to have to look for them when I get there :.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
