Okay, so some of the older people who are coming to the wedding are a little worried about locals. I do not think it will be any problem. I have been to Jamaica before and I was told it dirty watch out dont go out by yourself. And I never once had a problem and we went out by ourself. To me its all on where you are going and you have to pay attention to the area you are in. I go down there with the mind set of its not going to be the cleanest, but thats not what I'm now there for. When I was in Jamaica I had people ask me if I wanted weed no big deal, I just told them no and we all went on our ways. So how do you let the older people know it really isnt that bad? Has anyone ever had problems with the locals?

Honestly, now a days no matter where you go there is always a chance of something bad happening. I mean things happen and it frustrates me that people make huge deals about things... you know like Jamaica, I am sure it is a problem but if it was a HUGE problem why would it still be SOOO popular? Any destination comes with baggage diesases, violence, and unexpected situations

My FI and I went to Punta Cana this past August for a vacation and it wasn't scary at all. Of course there were some really pushy vendors, but that is it. We just said no thanks and kept walking. We stayed at the Grand Palladium Palace and the guard on the beach made sure that there weren't any scary people or non-guests on our beach at the hotel.

You can just tell them to stay on the resort then. Those that want to explore on their own can, but if other people are worried, they can just stay at the resort or only go on organized excursions..

Your wedding is in DR, right? When we went to DR for a wedding (one of our friends is from there and has a lot of family) - she told us not to go off on our own at all and her family's drivers took us everywhere and said not to take cabs.. so I was a little concerned that the "locals" were warning us about taxis or other people.. But, I think they were just worried and were extra cautious b/c they didn't want something happening to their guests in their country. And tourists always stand out and are a draw for those looking for trouble. I mean, I love NYC and feel perfectly safe there on my own, but if my friend from another country (or even state) came to visit me here, I wouldn't want them wandering around on their own..

So no matter where you are, you have to be cautious and use commonsense.. but if people are so worried, they can just stay and enjoy the resort..

Thank you guys! That is how I feel no matter where you go you could have problems! I just want people to understand that. I'm from Houston and there are some pretty ruff areas in Houston. So I'm not to worried about it, but you know how older people are they worry alot more. I have told them just to stay on the Resort. That is why I pick where I did it has everything on the resort. Thanks for all the help

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
