Moon Dance Cliffs

Hi Ladies,

I JUST got married at MDC on Saturday, (10/20) and it was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!  I promise to write a full review asap, but I just wanted to answer a few questions that I saw here.

1. We had a rehearsal dinner (actually it was  a dinner for ALL guests) on the night before the wedding. It was held on the lawn in front of the Sports Bar and everyone just ordered off the menu. It was Awesome: Casual, yet everyone was together.  They set it up with their own tables and chairs and there was no extra  cost to us.  We didn't bring any extra decorations for the dinner. Once you get to the MDC, you'll see that it really doesn't need anything much. The scenery is absolutely Spectacular and your guests will be Pleased!

2. I agree with a prior post regarding the Fire Dancer. I went to a wedding in Ocho Rios 2 years ago with a dancer, and people thought it was cool for about 5 minutes.  We skipped that option and got the Steel Drum band for the cocktail hour. They were a huge hit and really set the occassion into an Island Vibe!  Even though we missed most of the cocktail hour because we were taking photos, we could hear the music and it was Good!

3. For dinner, we had: Surf and Turf (steak and lobster tail), Oxtails and Escovitched Snapper. The surf and Turf counts as 2 options, so we paid an extra $10 per person.  EVERY one of the options was amazing!  The food was GREAT! In fact, I told them that the snapper may have been among the Best fish I've ever eaten in my life!

4. We had a DJ and did not get extra lighting. The lighting at Annie's was sufficient.

5. We had several guests stay at the RIU Negril. As their "fee" is really a Day pass, they got there early (around noon) and hung with us all day.  The outside guests stayed on site until about 12: 30 or so, then left on a shuttle set up by the Riu. No one at MDC made a fuss or told them to go. When the music shut down, quite a few of us hung out at the Sports Bar, then several people came to our villa (with fully stocked bar) to keep the party going.  MoonDance was Very accomodating!

During my process, I had a MILLION questions and couldn't seem to find enough info!  So, I PROMISE to write a full and detailed review!  Until then, please feel Free to ask me anything. But, my last piece of advice..... DON'T STRESS, DON'T WORRY, MDC is the PERFECT place for a wedding and it will be Gorgeous!

I am in the process of planning my wedding at MD.  I am so excited and this site has been great!  So many great suggestions for photographers food. etc.  I am only in the beginning phases and plan to be wed in May.  Yes, just five short months away.  It  has been a little stressful because of costs and guests are not happy about it.  However, I think the intimate nature of this resort and everything that I have read will make it worth it.  I am sure I will have questions, but for now just wanted to thank everyone for all of the wonderful info.

Hey everyone! I am newly engaged and in the venue research phase of planning. I have been admiring MDC for ages, but I'm seriously stressing about cost and travel time. My fiance and I are planning to do a site visit in June- and we're probably going to check out MDC plus 2 in Montego Bay. Can any of you tell me about how long the ride is from the airport? Also, what is the average budget for those of you who are doing or have done a resort takeover?

Hi Kaitstr,

I am getting married at MDC in less than 2 months, I set the date almost a year ago and I can't believe it is getting so close... I'm so excited. We are doing a resort take over so we have reserved the entire resort. I know the cost is a lot to ask of friends and family but we are actually having around 70-80 guests attend (which is more than we estimated) so it looks like the cost didn't prevent too many people from coming. If you want to email me at my personal email address ([email protected]) then I'll email you back more specific budget info :) We have almost everything in place so I should be able to provide a good estimate of the total cost. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
