Uninvited guests - please help..

Recommended Posts

I can understand your frustration. It is strange to think about people at your wedding that you don't know.

I can tell you though, I was always the "single" girl and went to several destination weddings while single. Once I went alone and once I brought a guest. I had so much more fun at the wedding when I brought a guest. It's hard being single to travel alone, go to dinner alone (before/after the wedding day), and even feel comfortable at the wedding alone.

$200-$300 a person is a lot for each extra guest, so I understand your delima, but if your friend's presence is important to you, I would allow them to bring a guest, even if it's their sister, so they can have more fun and feel comfortable the entire weekend of your wedding.

I don't know what to tell you...my resort is an AI...If I was in your shoes I would just let them know that you normally would allow the "guest" if you had a traditional at home wedding, but since you are doing a destination wedding, the circumstances don't allow it and just be honest why. I would go ahead and allow the one friend bring her sister-in fact the same thing happened to me...my good friend said she invited her mom and brother to come...It shocked me, but she didn't mean any harm and I really like both of them (I am now hoping to hook up her brother with my sister-haha-I am a matchmaker). Remember this is your wedding and everyone should realize that you of course want to spend it with special people you know! Hope this helps...=)

I also think that people don't realize that there are costs to having a wedding at a resort just like if you had it at home.

It may work out in the end because a lot of people say they are coming and then don't, so maybe you will have room for the sister. Or maybe she won't be able to come at all, but right now thinks she can. Things always change with guests right up until the day they leave!
I agree! Good advice

I think Tylersgirl's advice is awesome - as is everyone else's. We personally have indicated to our invitees that they can bring anyone they want, including friends (ie. not limited to dates)...we did this because it is an AI, and we are all staying there for a week - some of our guests would be pretty bored otherwise, not knowing anyone and not having anyone to hang out with. Our photographer is even bringing a friend (not at our expense). But if our destination wasn't AI, I think I'd take Tylersgirl's advice.

Hope it works out!

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
