What type of group activities are you/did you make available for your guest?

Recommended Posts

I'm planning a wedding at Excellence Playa Mujeres, about 30mins from Cancun. As I sit and think about planning and Itinerary I'm overwhelmed with what type of activities I should make avalible for my guest. I dont want to plan our there vacation fryingpan.gif for them but I would like to have a few group options for individuals who want to do things together. What types of activities did you or are you planning for your guest? Suggestions are welcomed!

Our wedding is in Jamaica, so I can't really help you with specific activites, but we are only planning one group activity. We will hopefully do a group trip to Dunn's River Falls. Of course, we will also have our wedding reception and a welcome dinner.

Last year we went on a cruise with about 10 people of all different ages. Nobody in the group ever chose the same excursions. It is very hard to find activities that everyone is interested in, especially when there are so many choices. I would suggest you and your FI choose what you want to do, then maybe just let everyone know what you are doing and that they are welcome to join you. That way people don't feel like they have to join you if they don't want to.

You could drive yourself crazy trying to please everyone, so just make sure you do what you want!

I agree. Your guests have different tastes, moods, level of physical stamina and interests. I would go to a trip advisor or a main websiiste and compile a general list of a select # of activities and advise them on how to book it. You can only provide a basic iteniary and if people are interested, leave the options up to them. Do not drive yourself crazy with planning their vacation for them. Best of Luck

We are going to buy our guests a cenote tour with ruins exploration as a gift for the OOT bags. Besides that we are going to compile a list of resort activities and non-resort actives but we are not organizing them. Plus it seems like a lot of the hotels have a tour desk in the lobby where they have group excursions. Carla wink.gif

We did not plan any activities for our guest. It was their vacation and I did not want them to think they had to hang out with us. Most hotels do have a tour desk in the lobby. Our guests planned their own activies once they were there. I do agree that if you and your FI want to plan something and want people to join you, you could just tell them what you guys are doing and let them decide of they want to join.

We are planning a cocktail hour at the hotel bar. That's when we plan on handing out the OOT bags [maybe]. Other than that, we might add optional events, like tours and things, but not to certain. I know that my sister and brother-in-law are planning our bachelor and bachelorette parties down there, so, like the PPs, I don't want to take up too much of our guests' time.

If we do anything for our guest we will be funding the activity. Personally, I would only plan events that I could afford to fund. The people who are making the trip have paid enough just to get there in my opinion.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
