Hello June 2009 Ladies!

June 25, 2009 in Kihei, Maui!

With the help of my awesome wedding planner (Lori Lawrence -- Tropical Maui Weddings provides Maui Wedding Planning Services) so far we have:

- sent out STD and have about 33 confirmed guests

- booked our reception/ceremony venue (Five Palms Restaurant and front lawn in Kihei)

- booked our photographer & ceremony music

- booked condo for ourselves, and immediate family

- booked in-room hair

- bought wedding dress

- bought some of the groomsmen's shirts

Lately I've been looking at outfits for FI and best man and bridesmaids dresses. Eventually I'll get to the invitations but those will be DIY.

Have any of you girls started looking at or had the bridesmaids dresses ordered yet? I went yesterday to look at some more bridesmaids dresses where I purchased my dress and the lady said I should have my girls order their dresses in November because alot of orders are made between Dec and Feb and it pushes the estimated 3 month time frame back an extra 3 weeks. I want to give the girls enough time to get their dresses altered, if needed. What are you girls doing?

I ended up getting my bridesmaids dresses at Le Chateau - they have a great selection of dresses at the moment. One of the upsides to doing this was it was easy to have people fitted - I just sent my girls into whatever Le Chateau was closest to them, then got their sizes and bought them at the store near my house! It worked well, especially for those that are out-of-town, and saved me a bundle as well!

I'm hoping to get mine from a regular department store so it takes out the order time. The only problem is I really want to do a bright pink and now that fall is here there's not a lot of hot pink in stores right now. I was planning on waiting until spring lines come out...I hope I'm not making a mistake!

Hello all! I am getting married on Sunday, June 7 at the Half Moon Resort and Villas in Montego Bay! We are so excited!

My mother and I are actually heading down there in a few weeks for two days to make all of the big decisions with the team down there. So far, I bought my dress, sent out the save the dates, got my website up and running and have a photographer. I feel pretty on-track but the only thing I'm stressing about is the villas at the hotel. At the Half Moon, they prefer guests to utilize their villa rooms, as they have about 200 of them. I just want the villas to work out for everyone....they have 5,6,7 bedroom villas and operate like mini B&Bs all in a row. private pool, kitchen and living room....stocked fridge. It's great for the "kids" but my parents friends are stressing out about which villa they're going to be in and with whom, they're like teenagers! I just want it to work out, I'm sure it will but it's definitely trickier than marrying at a big hotel and having people book separate rooms within.....

Does anyone know anyone who has gotten married at Half Moon? We are expecting about 150 people!

No stressin!! :-))

best!

Caroline

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
