How long are you going to be in port?

Fort Zachary Taylor

I had originally wanted to get married on Smathers Beach. I have changed my mind. My brother (who is a local) said I should do Fort Zachary. You can reserve your own private spot so you aren't sharing the beach with other brides. It starts around $60 for your reservation. I don't know if that covers the entry fee into the park. If you are doing a sunset wedding it is also facing the right direction. Smathers Beach the sunsets on the opposite side. You will still get sunset glow but not as much as you would on a beach in direct view of the sunset. I am definitely going off what other people have told me. I have looked at many photographers websites and all pictures turn out beautiful regardless. Fort Zachary also has some really amazing brick archway photo opportunities too.

Yay Fellow Key West Brides!

I have done so much homework my mind is swimming with info on Key West. I am doing a low budget but high fun week long wedding celebration. I have my dream list of where I would go if I wasn't on a budget and I also have the places I have signed up to work with. If I can help anyone with something they are looking for please don't hesitate to ask. So far I am getting married at Fort Zachary. I am working on a contract with a wedding coordinator/officiant/photographer. I have also found the woman I would like to use for hair and makeup. We rented out a housing compound and a b&b for guest overflow. We are not doing a reception because we are doing a sunset cruise the night before but I do have some great recommendations.

Hi there! I have looked at your website many times.

Thank you so much for the information. My brother and I have two different styles which cracks me up. I am usually, as he would say it, the one who has the "hoyty toyty" taste and he is the one who directed me away from Smathers Beach. I can't wait to give him crap about that one! I will make sure to check out both sites when I am there wrapping up details in March. I have an odd date for my wedding. It is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I wonder if I would need to book a "reserved" space. I really like pictures taken at the Fort itself which is another reason I was wanting that location. Any feed back you can offer is welcomed whether you are a vendor or not.

Smathers Beach: We do 95% of our weddings on Smathers Beach. It has the sand, sun, turquoise water and palm trees.

Look at weddings sites photos for both locations and go from there.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Best wishes to all.

There are a lot of things to do in Key West that don't cost a dime and would be great suggestions for an itinerary for your guests, if you go to the Key West Chamber of Commerce they have a community events & festivals page where you can select the month of May to see an expanded month view of every event going on down here.

If you are leaving it up to your guests to find their own accomodations, my best suggestion is have them contact the Key West Innkeepers to find them the best prices and locations for them to stay within close proximity of your ceremony and reception.

Another alternative to the Rum Barrel could be the Conch Republic Seafood Company (restaraunt) located right on the water at the Historic Seaport, just one block over from the Rum Barrel. It is a very laid back venue with a nice set up for you and your guests.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
