My name's Laura, my boyfriend (we hate the F word) is named Michael, and we're getting married at Dreams Tulum on 07/07/07.
We've been there a few times and fell in love with the chapel, although now that we've got a bigger group coming, the chapel is no longer an option. Bummer.
Anyway, I'm at a complete loss at all of this, having vowed when I was 6 to never get married. So while my cousins were flipping through magazines and building their trousseaus, I was, I don't know, riding my bike or something.
    So, basically, HELP.

Welcome you have come to the right place. You will find lots of info and tips here. There are quite a few Tulum brides here.
      Best of luck

I dislike the "F word" as well, but I use it anyway. Welcome to the forum. I getting married in Costa Rica. I don't know much about Mexico. Sorry!

Welcome! I'm getting married at dreams cancun, there are several tulum brides & groom here as well, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out. In the mean time if you have any general questions not related to Tulum, let me know, be glad to help!

Lol, welcome Laura!! How much have you already planned... besides the date and location? How many people are actually attending? You're lucky to have been able to see your location beforehand - at least you have that! lol

welcome laura. i've learned that this is one great thing about having a DW like this - typically the resorts or coordinators have these fabulous wedding packages that really involve very little thought on your part. you can make it be what you want - but i don't plan on doing much above and beyond what comes with my package!

i did want to add one thing though - are photographs important to you? if so - you may want to start looking a.s.a.p. for a photographer that you like, since you're getting married on a popular date!

We've probably got at least 20 people coming, but no attendants (aside from my nine year old son, who will be ringbearer). I have some nontraditional songs I want to walk down and off the aisle to. I think I already have my flowers picked out and all that.
I guess I'm mostly worried about two things: how to do invitations for the wedding and then the reception do when we get back (not everyone is invited to the wedding) and finding a spot for the reception. Actually, that is just about killing me right now. I can't really find anything to rent for under $4K and I am a VERY frugal bride (bought my dress off eBay) and refuse to pay that much.
Yikes. My stomache has hurt for 4 days straight, and I'm still five months out!

                    Welcome to the forum Laura!

I'm very similar to you in that I never had a "dream wedding" at all...I really didn't even think I would get married. I thought this whole process might be painful, but with the help & enthusiasm of the girls on this board it's actually been kinda fun! (shhh, don't tell).

The beauty of a DW is that you don't have to live up to preconcieved notions/expectations...you can really make it your own.

ahhh - it sounds like you've done a lot of the work already - whew!

i chose not to do an AHR (at home reception) just because i didn't want to deal with it. i am sure it's going to be super expensive! are there any local Austin brides on here that can suggest a location?!
