welcome to the site, sorry to hear about your situation. Is there any way to do a semi-dw? that is what we are doing? we chose a location that was a lot closer to our friends and family but are still have actvities like we would have at another location, just cheaper for people to come. Let me know if you have questions.

THank You everyone!! I will still try to convince him, however I am very sure this is a losing battle. He doesn't want to inconvenience his family, but this is sure upsetting me. I have alot of anxiety issues and am not comfortable saying vows infront of 200 people. But he doesn't want it any other way. He is quite addicted to family, and they are his #1 priotity. He is not happy until they are happy. BUt I say what about my happiness? What about my father funding the majority of the wedding? So....in the end, I will still be around looking at your beautiful photographs. I am very envious of you all! If anyoen knows of a good way to compromise a situation like this...please I am all ears!! Thanks again!

Jackie I really don't know why people see a DW as an inconvenience to guest.. my friends couldn't be happier.. we thought we would have fewer people and I haven't even deleivered STDs and we already have 50 people confirmed.. (with reservations made and stuff)..

I actually wish I had fewer people comming hahahah

Jackie, I totally understand your situation, my famiy started getting really cranky about flying to the carribean. I see your from Long Island. you could still do the whole thing in a really cool place that is still close by. what about all the beautiful areas in upstate new york or even in Mass. near the cape. it would still be a dest. wedding but still close enough that your FI could have his family there. I bet you could cut your list down a little bit and have all the cool DW activities.

We have more people signed to go than we ever imagined! We found out that a majority of our guests are using our destination wedding as a "vacation"! Throw that at him...... We can convince him! This is your day, not theirs!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
