what about an album? Are you interested in an album? are any prints included?

What's the price she quoted you for that package?

For me, even though the rehearsal dinner is included in my package, it's pretty much something I include for free because I enjoy doing it. If a couple wanted to trade the time I would normally shoot at the rehearsal for a day after shoot, I'd be open to that as well. That's all part of being flexible with my packages and making custom packages that really suit the clients needs.

Amy I know some girls were mentioning to you that you should get Juan (b/c after all he is amazing) but unfortunately I booked him for your wedding day. LOL. I can tell you the rates he gave me for 2008 were:

5 hours- $3,000

7 hours- $4,000

10 hours- $5,000

The coffee table books are $2,200.

Have you had any luck finding someone?

I figured you would book Juan, Glenda! :)

His pricing is more expensive than the photog I contacted. Actually, the full $5000 would cover her travel and package, but I'm not sure if we can afford that. I contacted her to try and omit the RD and day after shoot in order to save money, but she said she couldn't. So I'm still searching... If we can find someone for $3000 including travel, for the WD only, then I think I would jump on it...

Kinda off topic hijacked.gif

BUT jthis thread got me thinking:

that I should become a DW photographer. hehehe It would be sooo nice to be in the sun right now...except for dealing with those Bridezilla types. Maybe I'll stay content with accounting :P

So I'm still thinking of flying in a photographer. Here's the deal, we are in the process of changing our venue. The reception will take place at the Mayan which is letter E on the map, we are planning on staying with our guests at the hotel next door D. Marina Vallarta - Puerto Vallarta Maps

Would it be tacky to have our photog (and assistant) stay at the near by Flamingo(I) or Howard Johnson(G)?

Amy, can I ask why you're changing venues? I noticed you wrote this somewhere else and was wondering.

I think (and I may be wrong because I really don't know) that I would feel cheap making the photographer stay at a different resort, that is probably cheaper. Is it going to be a huge price difference? I would say if not, then I wouldn't, if you're going to save yourself $500, then maybe its worth thinking about. I guess my thought is would the photographer feel insulted that I didn't want to pay for them to stay at the same resort. Also, will you need to pay for a car for them or food? Is your resort AI? Will you have to pay for a day pass? I guess I would just consider everything.

Hi Jilly,

the main reason we are changing locations is because Dreams will only allow us to have the wedding till 11pm while the Mayan allows us till 2am! Also I love the set up at the Mayan, they include the chinese lanters, dance floor, they reserve the bar area with the couches (here is a link to some pics) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t34

While at Dreams, we needed to rent the dance floor, rent lounge furniture, bring in our own lighting. Also, an added plus, Marco the WC responds so quickly! Its a little pricer (for the reception) but I don't have to worry about having guests book there b/c its not an AI and they do not require me nor my guests to stay at the hotel. Therefore, I'm planning on getting group rates next door to the AI Melia..

As for the photog.. I don't want to insult them, but most I've contacted bring in their own assistant, so thats travel costs times 2. I am also considering flying in 2 hair/make up stylist who will be doing the whole wedding party (9 BM), Mothers (2) and myself for the cost of travel/lodging- no extra charge. They are willing to do trials for my self (which you know, normally there is a charge) and touch ups during the wedding. I think its a great deal and it could be a great present to the wedding party.

Well anyways, thats 4 ppl we would need to pay for travel/lodging and it would save me about $700 to have them stay near by. These hotels are nice, but they are not on the beach so of course the price is lower.

Hotel Howard Johnson Hotel Nautilus Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Hotel Flamingo Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Amy the Mayan looks beautiful!!! I think its a great choice, especially if you have no time restriction and it sounds like a lot of stuff is included.

I can definetly understand why you want to try to save some money especially if there is 4 people you will have to consider. BTW the other two hotels look just as lovely.

My suggestion, maybe ask some of the photographers on this forum or maybe they will chime in, the only thing I would worry about is insulting them and that may just be me, worrying, hahaha! Maybe it happens all the time and they wouldn't think anything of it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
