for the ones who had Maye. Did she stay for most of your wedding or leave near the beginning?
krista, just coming from the perspective of a bride getting married at the same hotel as you are, i did NOT hire an outside WC at all for the westin. i really dont think it's necessary at all. i think the staff at the westin is sufficient - and i have been on my WC's ass about what she should be doing. my wedding is in 4 weeks, so i will let you know when i get back how it went, but we are making a day-of timeline for her so she knows exactly what we expect of her. if she comes through at the end, she's in for a big tip.

I hope what your saying is right Maura. So far the Westin seems a bit disorganized with everything.

they were very disorganized with me in the beginning but get better and better with stuff as i get closer to my wedding. i honestly am glad i did not hire an outside WC because it seems like such a waste to me. we should discuss this in the westin brides thread if you want to continue talking about it.

Ana I have no doubt you made the right decision, and wish that I would have done without my outside coordinator in the end. You can easily book everything you need with the help of the forum and your own good sense. Save yourself the $$ and constant worry about double checking every bid.....wish I would have sad.gif

Yay! Another Cabo Surfer!

I didn't hire a coordinator, Armando at the hotel rocks! Also, this forum rocks! A day of coordinator is a good option if you don't want to worry about a thing on the day of the wedding but you want to book your own vendors. I'll let you know how things go with no coordinator, aside from my FSIL, when I get back in a couple weeks. I'm very laid back, however. Plus, my vendors still are going to want the other half of their money and I have faith they will show up.

Wow! I am really sorry you had this experince! Hang in there! I have found this forum so helpful. I think you have to read and pick what works for you. I have read reviews of brides who are more relaxed than I and some who are more high strung than me... what works for one may not work for another. I have contacted our vendors each myself and had great experineces. I always share that I got info from this forum and I think they gave me an honest price. I will let you know how it all works out in August! Thanks for sharing and I wish you the best!

Wow... Ana... It's so bad to read what you've been through and I bet you made the right decision booking vendors on your own.

and you're right, there's nothing wrong with saying... Hey, I'm getting X% out of your wedding vendors...

Just be real & be honest, that's better than beating 'round the president..Sorry...bush..

Cheers

I recommend just explaining everything to her at your meeting before the wedding. If you lay it all out she will get it right.

I think we just have to let her know in advance that we expect a lot and make sure we send her a time-table before the wedding with a lot of detail on it...?

She was there about 2 hrs prior to the wedding and then left at maybe 9:30ish?? She stayed through everything and then once we were just left dancing then she left. She made sure that she showed us who the transportation driver was so we knew who to go to later in the night. She had her assistant with her too and they both were there for the same time period. I did have my wedding on a monday though so it's not as common as the weekend.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
