Hawaii Question

Please settle a dispute for me. I have been talking to Cains Aunt and her and her DH is planning on going to Hawaii for their 5 year anniversary (in 4 years) they said they need to save up 10k for the trip for a week. In my eyes that is way too much for a trip to Hawaii.

If you have been to Hawaii recently or planning on getting married there, how much do you think it would cost? Granted we are from Michigan so I'm sure airfare would be more then say someone who lives in California.

are they going 1st class?

in general, the people i know always budget about $5000 per week for Hawaii but that was before airlines and prices went up.

i still think $10k is a bit steep but maybe they are staying at the Four Seasons every night. A lot of the really nice suites at luxury hotels are about $900+ per night.

It totally depends on their taste. Are they luxury people? What island(s) are they interested in? They have to factor in what type of vacation they want, i.e. if they want to eat all meals out or get a condo and make some, etc. They could easily spend $10k but they could also do it for less than half of that if they aren't too fussy

Danielle, I agree you can totally do it for way less than $7k!!!

We did a cruise of the islands that worked out to about $5000 with airfare. Add in excursions and it was probably closer to $6000. I loved the cruising aspect, it allowed us to see most of the islands, and we didn't have to worry about changing accommodation each time. Plus all our food was included.

Well she told me that her DH's aunt owns a home on two of the islands and that they would stay there, and they would visit just two islands. OH and she said they would go for 10-12 days.

I still think she is crazy, they are very laid back people, not really into sight seeing, just lounge by the pool type people so I don't see them spending that kind of money, Shoot Cain and I are always out doing stuff and I can't see us spending that kind of money.

Oh I should also mention his aunt is cheap, meaning if she had her way she would have 10 people in one 2 bedroom room to save money, so no four season place for her.

Go to a travel site and put in the airport she would fly out of and see how much that is.. Then add a hundred bucks a day for food. Then maybe 500 for some excursion of some sort. Were they going to rent a car? If so add that in. I bet you could get a pretty close estimate. Also do they have airmiles? That would cut a chunk out of the tickets. I bet they could get away with 5000

I've been to Hawaii Several times and that is really high. But it depends what they want to do. If they are going to do excusions everyday and stay in a 5 star hotel, then it could be close. But the best way to do hawaii is to rent a house or condo for a week. You can do that for a couple grand. Then you buy food and cook meals (maybe just go out to dinner), it can be a lot cheaper! What island is she talking about going to?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
