Me too Katie, I even called Thompsons to see how doable it is to change at this late stage! I think I was just having a crazy moment though cos the more I think about it, i remember the reason why i chose AS in the first place.
Good news about the dress. that is a big thing sorted. I am just waiting on mine to be finished and hopefully no more fittings needed as being made to measure. I actually can't even remember what it looked like on!!!
Can you tell me who it is by or style without risking you FH seeing it?

Ok, here's the thing ladies. I saw Bree's post last night and was like, oh, I could do that and move, too. But then I was like, oh, I'm still going to be stuck paying Lomas crazy reception prices! So who cares. Reviews on TA have gotten better the last few days.

Two weeks from today, I will be waking up at Sensatori for vacation. I promise if anything even remotely seems bad, I will let you ladies know. Also, I will bring my laptop for live posting!!!

So, everybody change their karma to positive or something!!! I still have no wedding dress, but going to Atlanta in 2 days, so keep your fingers crossed.

I'll load the pics on my computer tonight and will attach them to a message for you :)

I ended up trying on so many dresses I couldn't even guess who the designer is!! I ended up buying from Confetti and Lace because (well, the dress obvioulsy) but also the alterations package they do.

what did your TA say about moving the wedding?? (just out of interest lol)

Katie.

Oh I am excited to see your dress.

They said that it would not be a problem to move the wedding to anywhere as long as I do it by the 13th September and there may be a £35pp admin charge. If the new location is much cheaper than AS, and as I have already paid in full, I would get the difference refunded.
As it turns out, i did look at other locations but couldn't really find anywhere I liked as much and especially for cheaper (there was one in maldives).
I am sticking to my original choice and crossing my fingers and preying for sun.

My wedding is less than two months away and with the reviews being so sporadic I was unwilling to go through anymore anxiety over the resort issues. Now I have to say that every bride that has come back has been so happy with their wedding. I was not so much worried about the wedding as I was about the inconsistency in service, mechanical issues and the resort being touted as a 5 star when in reality at this point it is more like a 3 star. I think the thing that put us over the edge was the pool and plumbing issues they are still contending with. I guess overall we just wanted a "sure thing." The Azul Beach although it is quite a bit smaller looks like it can give us the personalized service and consistency we have been looking for. The bad thing is that we won't get all the variety of restraunts we wanted, the spa or the bigger more modern rooms. What I did love was that we were able to keep all of our Lomas planning and get moved over with little to no extra expense to us.

I hope this helps answer why we moved. If we had more time we would have definately stayed and stuck it out. I have been planning for over a year and the emotional rollar coaster that we have been on has been exhausting and made me not look forward to my wedding.

oh Bree, that's so awful that you had not been looking forward to your wedding. I hope that changes now and you can start looking forward to it again.

Best of luck.

Katie.

OMG! I am so glad you told me that, I was really confused. My brain is on wedding overload most days. blush2.gif

ah ok...I dont think I'd be able to change now anyway as we have all 21 people on my one booking so all the rooms etc I doubt they'd just move to some other hotel and lose a booking that even without the wedding, comes in at £27,000!!!

but that's good that you had a look but didn't find anything better that you wanted to change to :) that makes me feel better too :)

Now I just need to pray my iPhone will let me upload my pics onto here!!

Katie.

    • Sorry you had to deal with this I hoped it worked out. It seems to be every few months a new store will be in the  'if' stage and to the 'when' stage.  Big businesses like this don't notify the employees or customers before they close down...that would cause even more losses.  One day there are signs on the door and the business is done.  And lots of people (employees and customers...not to mention the creditors that they owe millions to) get screwed immediately with little help to be found anywhere.  Look at alfred angelo, although they had less retail stores than David's Bridal, they may have had more sales than them as a company.  They were the largest manufacturer of dresses and were carried by thousands of independent stores across the world (not just the 60+ branded stores they had).  If you google search Davids Bridal going bankrupt, they are listed on all the sites that post retail stores on life support.  They have more debt than they will be able to service in 2019 and the only question right now is if they'll make it that far.  Once the debt comes due, it's almost a 100% certainty that the company will be done.  But it's also more probable than not that the bankruptcy will happen much sooner than that.  The argument about them getting a new line or how big they are isn't a good argument if you look at the history of how these normally happen.  Alfred Angelo had a brand new line of dresses that never even hit the stores but were made overseas already...those all made their first appearances at the liquidation auctions.  I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but just trying to make sure that people understand that when a company gets to this point, it's definitely a roll of the dice if you are ordering something that you can't take home today.  How much of a risk?  That's hard to say, but I am extremely confident that the pain felt when alfred angelo closed 61 stores will be even greater when Davids Bridal closes 300+ stores…and when there are other great discount dress stores out there like Bridepower or Vows Bridal Outlet on the East Coast or Brilliant Bridal in the West (and plenty of others as well), I don’t think I would personally recommend any of my friends to take that risk!  But that’s just me:)
    • Hello all!! I'm planning to get married next week. I'm working in an MNC and I'm gonna marry my colleague who is in my company. It's been ten months since we have started our relationship. He used to support in all my difficulties and used to help me in my work. Always he used to tell me about my smile. He says that I have a very good smile and he loves it. Recently I lost my front tooth after an accident and it resulted in a bad look for me. He told me that I lost my beautiful smile. I was totally disappointed and thought of finding a solution. I heard about dental dentures and took an appointment at a clinic in Scarborough. Will dentures affect my speech? What was your experience of getting dentures?
    • Go for the third one. It is gorgeous and you will look stunning in that. I'm sure you will be noticed by other people. Go for it.
    • I would suggest the long one. You will look stunning in that. It is simple and elegant.
    • Both the gown are awesome and I'm sure you will look gorgeous in both. But I would suggest the first one. Go for it and Congratulations for your marriage.
