Reception Info

Recommended Posts

Hi! I was wondering if anyone who has had a dinner reception at Mammee Bay has any comments on how it was. I know they say it is semi-private, but how private is it really?? I was thinking of doing a cocktail reception after at Seagrapes. Does anyone know if there is a seperate charge to book this besides the $10 pp for open bar? Does this seem to be a better location than the disco? I haven't heard many good reviews of the disco. Does anyone have pictures of Seagrapes and/or Mammee Bay receptionshuh.gif

It's kind of hard to describe Mammee Bay. It's not a big open space like most restaurants but kinda separated into long corridors separated by railings. Our table was far enough away from other diners than we couldn't hear them and didn't really pay much attention to them. We were set up closest to the ocean so we got a nice breeze and could hear the waves crashing. Unless you want to have some kind of entertainment or dancing as part of your dinner, it's a great option especially cause it's free!

Here's a picture from the end of our table looking towards the head of the table. No other diners in the way!

I also had my dinner reception at Mammee Bay and had the same set up and location as geology_rocks. It was great! We never noticed any other diners and the meal was absolutely delicious!

We also chose to have our reception in the disco (I love to dance and it was more cost effective!) and we had a blast in the disco!! Read my review (link below my signature) for more pics.

Thanks for the pics guys. The restaraunt looks really nice. I really liked the gazebo setup you had for the ceremony jm. You were a beautiful bride! I'm trying to decide whether I want to do the disco or Seagrapes for after. I can't decide!! So many decisions!! I thinkI will be going withe steel drum band. I've heard all good things.

I just booked my wedding and from what I have seen, I think we are going to go with the Mammee Bay dinner. I love to dance, so does anyone have the price for the disco in 2009? Does the price come with a DJ, or do you burn your own music onto a cd and that plays for 2 hours? Thanks for your help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
