Picking Day Of The Week

Recommended Posts

So we are sitting here planning the wedding budget (!), and are picking a wedding date. We are thinking of flying in on Thursday, and having a Sunday wedding.

So as far as destination weddings go, is it still more expensive to have a wedding on a Saturday, rather than a Friday or Sunday? Im talking Hawaii.

I never thought picking a day of the week would be so hard. LOL

I dont know about Hawaii but the prices where we are getting married didnt change depending on day of the week.

Lets see some things to think about.

1. Vendors might have more availability on days that are not as popular. (i.e. a weekday might be better then)

How long or when do you think your guests will be traveling. will most of the make a weeks vacation out of the wedding or will most of them be flying in for just the wedding and than leaving. (i.e. a weekend day might be better so that guests can take the least amount of time off work)

The actaul day of the week didn't factor in for us... we had a date in mind (my birthday) and would have taken whatever day that fell on!

As Jackie stated, I would think that some vendors might not be available on a Sunday - but I could be wrong...

I am pretty sure in Cancun they do not do Sunday weddings so maybe look into that first, that may eliminate one day. Do you have any resorts in mind that you could check with to see pricing for days of the week?

We are arriving on Sunday (actually next Sunday - yay!) and getting married on Wednesday. We weren't set on Wednesday when we booked our trip. The residency requirement for Jamaica played a large part.

I agree with the other BDW brides that cost shouldn't increase for a specific day unless you're using outside vendors.

Besides cost, I do think that some days are just more popular for weddings. You might just want to pick and off day and time to avoid "crowds" so to speak.

When planning our wedding, I found out from the TA that the cheapest days to fly are Tues & Wed which is why most of our group is flying down Tues.

As for the resort, the price was the same for any day but we decided to have ours on Thursday, since it was easier to book all of the vendors we wanted, and since some people still wanted to go from Sat-Sat, the mid-week wedding worked out for everyone. It's not like haveing a wedding here in the middle of the week, when your on vaca everyday is Saturday LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
