Should I finally lose it on her over the phone (tehehehe) or just wait till our meeting there (FI is wanting me to wait, but I think that's because of what the phone bill will be lol)?

Did you use Renova Spa for your hair by chance? I am booked there and have to go in the day before to finalize what I want to do with my hair/make up and am getting a bit worried!

PS to Lena... HI! cheesy.gif
Hi,

Ok, I'm at ease now knowing that Pamela wasn't just doing this to me! I had the same issues with her about reconfirming things to her as if she never read my emails the first dozen times!! I had to confirm my dinner location 4 times before she finally got it right and even when the location was right she reserved it for the incorrect amount of people 3 times after that! Ahhhhh girl_werewolf.gif !! Regarding your question- I would start confirming the flowers/decor before you arrive just so you can both be on the same page. Atleast this way you will know what will be available to you there or what she suggests. I kept thinking about calling her too and completely going off on her too. But, I didn't and just kept it cool the day we met. I did completely ignore her the day following the wedding because I was really upset with her!

I'm such a dork- I just realized I didn't write a review about Renova Spa.
Yes, I did get my hair done there and so did the moms and sis-in-laws. My sis-in-laws had to go over to Riu Cancun's spa because they couldn't accommodate all of us at RPLA's spa. I thought both mom's hair do's looked great. Although mine didn't look exactly how the picture I provided looked, I still really loved my hair. The best thing about it, my wedding day was extremely windy and my hair managed to stay in place through out the entire night. I didn't have time to do a "practice updo", so I was really worried about them messing up my hair, but everything turned out great. I had a mani and pedi done there too that day and loved it.

Mrs. Martin,

I would love to get your template for the welcome and info brochures... I am actually surprised that the day passes were $75. I thought the were $100 each, but that stinks that you couldn't get a deal since you brought so many vendors to the hotel... I think leaving the OOT bags with the receptionist is a good idea. Just curious, how much do you think I should tip them to do that?...That dessert sounds like a good idea.

I started with Lizette too and as the wedding got closer, Pamela took over. So, I'm not sure if it will be the same for you, but hopefully you will get to stay with Lizette because she seems to reply promptly to her emails.

I have the templates on my home computer, so I will be more than happy to send them to you when I get home. Yes, the passes are usually $100, but they give you $25 off when you get married there and purchase passes. So, it helped us especially since we bought so many. Regarding the tip I left for the receptionist, I gave her $7.00 (USD) because I think that's all I had at the time. I gave her 7 or 8 bags that needed to be handed to the guests, so a dollar a bag I guess was pretty good. The guests all got them without any problems and that's what I was most worried about.

I do have one! But it is in my email as a PDF and I have no clue how to post that here... if you want to PM me your email, I will definately send it to you :) The prices are really reasonable. If you don't want to give me your email (i would totally understand) you can go to the Renova Spa website and email Paula. She is awesome answering any questions you might have to :)

Thanks Mrs Martin! I just sent off another email asking Pamela if she had gotten my last few, so we will see I guess smile105.gif

Oh wow, that is totally reasonable for all that!

OMG Mrs Martin - Congrats on the baby!

I feel like my wedding is sooo far away, but the planning is underway. If only March can come sooner so that I can officially book my date. On the Riu website it says that they don't do weddings on Christmas or New Year's day, so I have my fingers crossed that Jan 2 will work for them (it's a Saturday). I think I'm going to have to email the people over there to make sure. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should get a TA or not.

Bakerisacat, I am sure you will have a wonderful wedding. Woohoo!

Hi fellow brides! Hope you all had wonderful holidays! Christmas seemed like an afterthought here, but we ended up having one of the best in years :)

I can't believe that I leave in little over a week and will be married in exactly 2!!! cheesy.gif

I still can't get Pamela to answer anything by email, I wonder if something happened... eek! Since I made the comments about the same email over and over in November I've heard NOTHING! I'm calling on Monday to see whats up, I seriously wonder if she possibly hasn't gotten my emails, but then wouldn't she think to email me?! (LOL I would have called her MUCH earlier but I was sick all of the beginning of December and then was working crazy hours over the holidays... I work in retail...)

Either way, I've decided I will get the wedding I want, and good luck to anyone that stands in my way when we get there LOL cheesy.gif

If I don't get a chance to pop in here before we leave, I promise there will be a full review soon after we are home and LOTS of pics!

Thanks! I'm so happy to be pregnant!! Your wedding will be here before you know it; it's going to fly by. Have you heard anything back from RIU as far as your date?

The wedding locations are not private at all. You can probably get away with having a private dinner depending on the number of guests you have at the wedding. For example, if the restaurant you choose has a maximum capacity of 40 and you have about 40 guests, then your dinner will be private. But as far as the ceremony locations go, they are in open spaces. The area is closed off only for your event however. It's not as if you are going to have random guests walking into your ceremony.

As far as the sandbags go, it probably just depends on the time you go/season. When I went last year, the tides were not high and I don't think I saw sandbags. This year, the tide was so close to the hotel, you couldn't even walk over to RIU Cancun next door. There were sandbags out that week to help control the water and sand.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
