renting sound system

Has anyone heard or know about the Dreams Resort's sound system? We were thinking about just renting that out for $160 instead of paying a DJ $160/hr. Anyone seen their set-up or have any thoughts?

one thing to be careful of...at dreams cabo, the rate was per hour and almost the same $$ as a DJ.

 

so be sure it is a flat fee not per hour.

I was thinking of doing this to with an IPOD, we're not having a ton of people so I thought it seemed silly to have a DJ, when we could just bring our own music, but I haven't gotten prices yet.

I'm getting married at Dreams and I asked Mariana about that and she said the rate was 160 per hour. So we ended up getting a DJ to play our IPOD for $450. Plus he will be able to DJ our own music. I will have a list for him with all of our music on it broken down in genres so he can mix it up!!

I checked on that...and it is a flat rate. She said it is $160 for the entire evening. thanks for the heads up though!

Were you just going to use the IPOD speakers or can you hook it up to a sound system? I was thinking of borrowing my brothers IPOD for that, but not sure if you can only use those docking speakers or if it could be hooked up to the sound system I could rent. Do you have any idea??

I'm not sure, I've heard other people have used their IPODS, but I don't know how they hooked them up, I'd like to hook it up to the sound system if I can, this is something I have to look into more.

from my understanding, you can hook your IPOD up to there speakers!

Are you using Mijares? Did you opt more a ceremony audio set-up as well?

 

We just amended our reservation from full DJ to Ipod set-up and an attendant. I don't think that the attendant will mix the songs though I pretty much thought that we had to do that. I guess I must clarify.

 

Dreams: I thought about using there system but I wanted to make sure that the music was of the best quality so I opted for the dj's professional system. If there system is what they use around the pools then it will suffice but isn't the best in clarity.

 

At 160 the whole evening that's a good deal, especially if your group is smaller. we may opt to use that for the welcome dinner where the music won't be as important.

Yes I am using DJ Mijares! I just thought it would be so much easier to have him run the show with our IPOD! Then I don't have to worry about someone having to DJ all night. But I agree the 160 price is good but Mariana did quote me per hour so who knows!
