Okay, so I just had what I thought was a fantastic idea and a way to save money on decor, and then just as quickly wondered whether it would even be remotely possible.

I know that one of the items not allowed through customs are plants/flowers/seeds. (Although I haven't yet been able to locate the exact Mexico customs laws about this.) But to what extent does this include branches and preserved items?

I found this fantastic site (nettletonhollow.com) that uses the most amazing and unique looking branches, etc. Check these out:

    ramshead pods

    grapewood branches

Would any of these be allowed through?? I think the ramshead might not be, as it's a pod that likely still has seeds inside...but the others? Would even manzanita branches be allowed? Can't find the precise list of what is and isn't okay...

keep in mind that the rule is not just for things that might have seeds, its also because sometimes there are bugs in things that you cant see, and thats another reason they are cautious about that.

Thanks, Maura. I did think about that...I got my bio degree with a specialization in botany. (You'd think I'd know where to look for this info!) But this stuff is all preserved to the Nth! So that's why I'm curious about more precise regulations.
