Dreams Cancun Contract Options

Recommended Posts

I was thinking the same thing. I was looking over our contract and talking with my FI about the cocktail hour. I really don't think we are going to do the cocktail hour because after the wedding we can just go straight to dinner. I'm thinking about saving money and that would be $550 dollars towards something else. But then I was thinking what are the guest going to do for an hour while we are taking pics? I guess that's where the cocktail hour comes in. I don't know!!!! Has any other Dreams Brides had a cocktail hour and wished they didn't?

Yeah, the cocktail hour is basically a place for everyone to go to wait for you to get your pics and all that. I know some girls get their pictures done before the wedding then after the wedding just get some group shots then straight to the reception. So, that is always an option. I asked my FI about that and goes "babe, I think after the ceremony we will WANT an hour to get away" lol. He and I aren't so big on being the center of attention. foshizzle.bmp

I personally think the cocktail reception is a GREAT idea for something to keep everyone occupied and happy while pics are going on, and in my dreams I would love to have it, but yeah I'm likely going to have at least 40 guests so if you add the package and 20 extra people for cocktail reception and reception... not to mention DJ and photography... all of a sudden it's like yikes I can't afford this! Gotta cut costs where I can!

From what I have heard there is a bar right inside the tower lobby. I haven't been to Dreams before, but I'm thinking that people can just go in and grab a drink and then head outside and hang out on the terrace? I was even thinking of giving the bartender a big tip to have tequila shots and limes ready for everyone following the ceremony so we could have a quick toast Mexican style! Then everyone could just get their own drinks from the bar as they like, as they would on any other day of their stay. You could even still have the mariachis playing out on the terrace for everyone... would just be lacking appies and waiter service but would still have drinks and dancing and fun... anyone have any thoughts as to whether this would work well??

Then you will be fine.. people can get their own drinks for an hour. I was going to do a beach reception too but the more I thought about it and heard about how horrible the wind was the more I leaned towards the terrace. I just wish it wasn't so damn windy I would have it on the beach in a milisecond. How many times do you get to eat and dance in the sand?!

I was set on the beach! The setup is beautiful. I just HATE HATE HATE the wind when I am trying to eat. And I want candles. But I am sure it is sooo amazing with the waves hitting the beach and the sun setting. Have you seen the lights they can set up under the tables? There are pictures of it somewhere on here. It's so pretty.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
