I used this site:
AltaVista - Babel Fish Translation

I think its correct?? Maybe someone can verify.
No it's not really correct because it's not a saying used in Spanish.

I would say, "Papa, para acordarte del dia que me entregaste de novia."
To remember the day you gave me away as a bride.

You know, it's a hard phrase to translate literally... PaulaV would you agree that "Papá, para recordar el día en que me llevaste al altar" sounds nice too? the literal translation of this phrase would be "to remember the day you took me to the altar" but not in so many words and also in a form of Spanish that a Hispanic parent would appreciate...

Note: I still use the word 'altar' when referring to the spot where the bride and groom will stand during their ceremony, even if the ceremony is not in a church or place of worship.

Hope this helps!!

Thank you ladies...I hate to trouble you with one more translation. How about: "Mother, to dry your tears as you have always dried mine" ??

Thanks a million. smile35.gif

Hmm... ok, let's see if PaulaV will agree with me on this one.. "Mamá, para secar tus lágrimas como cuando tu secaste las mias" OR "Mamá, para secar tus lágrimas como tú has secado las mias"... I like the second one best.

Notes: You may use "Mamá" or "Madre" but the latter is a bit too formal for my taste..
In my country we don't use 'tú' we use 'vos' (when speaking with friends, siblings, etc) or 'usted' (when speaking with parents, elderly, boss, etc) when refering to someone...
hope this helps!

    • STAY AWAY FROM CARIBBEAN EMOTIONS PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Michael Weiler is a SCAMMER he took our money and disappeared!! we hired him as our photographer for our wedding back in November, he gave us a run around for the first week or 2 saying our pictures are almost ready and then disappeared. we have been sending him emails, texts and phone calls for the past 4 months and he is now where to be found. I made a fake account to email him and he answered right away as he is only interested in taking peoples money and not give anything in return.
    • For weddings you should definitely use a travel agent as there are promotions and amenities with a group block that you will not get by booking individually like comped rooms, upgrades, spa treatments, etc.
