Help with French song..

Recommended Posts

Would anyone be kind enough to help me translate this song?

Me parle des amours mortes

{Refrain:}

Que reste-t-il de nos amours

Que reste-t-il de ces beaux jours

Une photo, vieille photo

De ma jeunesse

Que reste-t-il des billets doux

Des mois d' avril, des rendez-vous

Un souvenir qui me poursuit

Sans cesse

Bonheur fané, cheveux au vent

Baisers volés, rêves mouvants

Que reste-t-il de tout cela

Dites-le-moi

I can translate some of it for you, but probably not the whole thing....and it probably won't be 100% accurate, but here goes...

Tonight the wind that knocks on my door

Me parle des amours mortes

Speaks to me about dead loves

Devant le feu qui s' éteint

In front of the dying (lifeless?) fire

Tonight this is a fall song

Dans la maison qui frissonne

In the shivering house (house that shivers?)Et je pense aux jours lointains

And I think about past days (I think?)

{Refrain:}

Que reste-t-il de nos amours

I'm not sure about the que reste-t-il part, but de nos amours is of our love

Que reste-t-il de ces beaux jours

ces beaux jours is these beautiful days

Une photo, vieille photo

A photo, an old photo

De ma jeunesse

Of my youth

Que reste-t-il des billets doux

des billets doux is the soft bills

Des mois d' avril, des rendez-vous

The month of April, a meeting

Un souvenir qui me poursuit

A memory that follows me

Sans cesse

Constantly (I think)

Bonheur fané, cheveux au vent

Wilted happiness, hair in the wind

Baisers volés, rêves mouvants

Stolen kisses, moving dreams

Que reste-t-il de tout cela

de tout cela is of all that...still not sure about the que reste-t-il part

Dites-le-moi

Say it to me

Un petit village, un vieux clocher

A small town, an old steeple

Un paysage si bien caché

A landscape so well hidden

Et dans un nuage le cher visage

not sure...something about a cloud and a face

De mon passé

Of my passed (past?)

Les mots les mots tendres qu'on murmure

The words the words that one murmurs

Les caresses les plus pures

The purest touches (or caresses)

Les serments au fond des bois

Something about oaths at the bottom of wood LOL doesn't make sense to me!

The flowers that one rediscovers in a book (?)

Dont le parfum vous enivre

of which the perfume intoxicates you

Se sont envolés pourquoi?

They flew away, why?

I made updates to Melissa's translation. See changes in her quote above... pretty sad song ... are you using it at your wedding huh.gif? I don't recognize the words, who sings it? Celine Dion?

By the way, que "reste-t-il" is "What's left of ..." , "what's remaining .." ... other thant that, I made some little changes (my preferences) but Melissa did a great job.

Thanks ladies! I haven't used French in a long, long time - probably since high school LOL

(and maybe once or twice since then on trips to Quebec...but even then most people speak English so I don't bother)

Wow, I haven't been online for sometime so I didn't know if anyone replies. Thank you so much.., all of you, angel2.gif , are so kind to translate these for me.

This is the French version of the song "I wish you love". I was so so in love with this song as well as with the voice of the singer but wanted to make sure that the wordings are wedding appropriate. Oh well.. blink.gif

It's the first song listed on this webpage (Que reste-t-il?):

Mia Buchignani - International Vocalist

cheesy.gif Not for walking down the aisle, but I was originally thinking that this might be a nice first dance song love.gif, with some word-tweakings.

Hmm, I don't know now, I agree.. it does seem like a very sad song..!!

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
