Attention 2009 ROR Brides (and grooms)

Recommended Posts

I booked our flights yesterday as we are flying down with Aeroplan points and then paying for the hotel seperatly. We are going a bit early to spend a few days with family at Christmas and then heading to the Hotel on New Years.

I'm hoping to get my time booked for Jan 6 - but if I have to change it by a day it's not the end of the world.

We will be there at the same time :) My wedding (hopefully) will be on Monday the 5th... but we plan on going down Wednesday Dec 31st for the New Year and staying through the 10th. :) Our family and friends will be there for varying amounts of times/dates depending on what works for them.

That's exciting! How many are you expecting? Our friends and fam are coming from the Thursday through to the Sunday so that's why we booked Tuesday. I'm pretty excited to be there for New Years too.
So far our turn out is between 40-50 people

I honestly have no idea what our turn out will be... if everyone we invited came (which obviously won't happen) we would have like 106.

Realistically I am thinking 30-50. But with a major chunk being college students... it is hard to say until they actually have to put money down.

That Tuesday will be our second choice... I have some guests arriving the Sat/Sun and then some guests who will probably be leaving Wed. So I really would like Monday... but we'll see. Keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Yup, same with us. I sent out the save the date's last month and it covered about 130 people, but we are in Canada and the trip is quite expensive so I'm expecting that same 40-50. I'll send the invites in late July and hopefully get all the responses.

What time slot are you hoping for? I asked for 2pm. I sure hope we get the days we want, this really is a lot of notice.

Yep we sent our STDs about a month ago so people could get off work and all that. (and start saving)

Most of our group will be coming from MN but my FI is from Canada so we have a small group that will be coming from Toronto.

I am going for the 4:00 slot... I always wanted a sunset wedding and this is as close as I can get!

Hopefully we can both get what we want! We are doing it early enough and with picking weekdays (instead of the traditional Fri/Sat) you would think there would be better chances at this point in time.

p.s. Still waiting to hear from them. I emailed them 2 nights ago asking for clarification (since just last week I got an email saying I couldn't book until Mar/Apr). At that point I got an autoreply saying they would get back to me w/in 24 hours. Well they didn't so I emailed again last nigiht. Still waiting.

Well my fiance's Brother just got back from there last week when we discussed the wedding time with him. He said that the sun was starting to set at about 5 so by the time your ceremony is done at 4 you will likely get some beautiful sunset pictures. He said the whole 2 weeks he was there it was beautiful every single day!! I was happy to hear that!

I haven't heard back either, and I too was told from Valeria that I can't book until March/April - it was the exact email someone quoted earlier. I sure hope to hear back soon, I just want to know that it's a sure thing!

Hi Everyone!

I too, got the E-mail about not being able to book until Mar/Apr. So i didnt stress at all. I thought I had lots of time yet. Then I see that they were taking wedding bookings and ALOT of the times and days for the week we are going to be there were ALREADY taken! WTFhuh.gif So let me tell you I was freaking out. We have people booked already to come, they have vacation time grnated already for that week? So after going through the days and times with a fine tooth comb I managed to tentatively book Thurs, Jan 15th at 1pm on the beach! So excited, now I just have to wait for the confirmation. I sure hope it works out! fingers crossed!

I just dont understand how they told alot of us that we could not book until Mar or Apr then all of a sudden they are taking bookings in Feb? confusing. I just hope everyone that got that "auto-email" check out this thread or the Riu website. It would be really sad if their available dates and times get filled.

Where are you all having your recpetion dinner and everything?

Hey!! So you got a Friday slot hey! That's great! Did they confirm your date yet?? How long did it take them?
We've decided to pay to have a photographer come with us. She will be a guest of the Hotel for the week so from what I heard it shouldn't be a problem. I've seen some nice pics from Micheal but I want some that are a bit more catered to us.
We are hoping for the Plantation that night..although I can't say anything if confirmed until I hear back from them!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
