@ amalmRN. thank you for that amazing review!!!!

i'm so happy to hear about your rave reviews on the WC's & the DJ!  if there is something that you should provide them (diagrams/charts), what would it be?

i'm not surprised about the rooms.. i felt the same looking @ the pictures but was in love w/ everything else the resort offered & the wedding pkgs.

btw, when it comes to value -did you think you could have gotten more at a different resort?? did any of your guests complain or feel like it wasn't worth the price?

lastly & most important- that picture gives me goosebumps!!!!! i'm in LOVE! i hope you will share more!!!

My guests and I thought that the resort was worth the price.  My husband :) and I decided on Dreams because it was in the middle for price...it had exactly what we needed for the type of vacation it was.  We had 30 friends and 7 "older adults" so having a great pool to hang out in and a great beach was very important with great bars.  This resort has it!  If it was a vacation for just my husband and I, I would not have chosen nor would I recommend it to couples vacationing or honeymooning.  If the rooms were upgraded/remodeled this hotel would be great.

Oh, another thing...there is NO "ocean view" room.  The rooms will have an ocean view but you have to look in between the trees and buildings or stand on your jacuzzi ledge to see it...haha.  Or they will put you in a garden view room which overlooks the pool.  If your guests are expecting an ocean view room, they will be disappointed...I would warn them in advance.  A lot of my friends upgraded and were looking at another building, the pool or not even on the top floor.  A little frustrating.  One of my guest had a musty room, which I did not know til we left.  Please tell your guests if they are not happy to complain, complain, complain.  Some of guests were not happy and were switched rooms.  Just a FYI.

As far as what to give to your WC...any pictures of ceremony/reception set up, decoration, seating chart, favors, etc...

I had pictures of how I wanted everything and even took pictures of everything I brought with so it would all make sense.  I used only few pics to explain what I wanted.  My WC was great!

Thank you about the picture...I love it!  Can't wait to see all my pics, I will post more pics when my photographer has them all done.

here is one from our TTD session at sunrise...morning after wedding.

I got married at Dream PC  in August 2012 the resort is beautiful.  The staff is wonderful.  We had roughly 37 adults and 7 kids.  EVEY ONE enjoyed them self.  You must remember ppl are funny.  You may be reading reviews for ppl who are really anal or just chronic complainers.  Everyone has a different opinion.  If you have ANY questions please feel free to email me. I am more then willing to assist you.  I have been studying this place for more then a year.  Traveled, experienced & criticized the place.  Good Luck

Also I have a question for Past Brides, what did you guys think was much more beneficial. The Free Complimentary Wedding or the for every 5 rooms you got one free? Let me know your opinions thanks.

Worried Bride...first of all...DON'T be worried!!!

I was able to get both free rooms and the complimentary wedding package!  Are you using a TA?  If so, talk with them about the free rooms.

When I had all the package information/prices on everything...I totalled everything up with the complimentary package and all the extras then with the other packages to see what would be best...adding everything was cheaper since I had brought most of my stuff with me and didnt need a lot of what the other packages had.

Hope this helps!

I read horrible reviews and great reviews of this resort and took it all with a grain of salt.  I had a perfect wedding and a wonderful vacation with family & friends and wouldn't change any of it.  I am just honest with my review...take it as you want!

Brides...i can't stress enough how gorgeous it is to get married in the DR and all will fall into place!!!!

Dreams Punta Cana 10/12/12 Review

Ladies-

I finally found time to share my review. The wedding was beautiful and unforgettable. The resort is a perfect wedding destination. The wedding coordinator, Deyanira, was great to work with. She had everything under control and made sure the day was executed as we expected.

Pros:

  • Venue - beach wedding was beautiful even without any decorations. I only had chair bows that I brought with me and fans for each guest. The chair bows were transferred to the reception (Portofino Terrace). I brought lanterns to use as centerpieces and table runners to decorate, along with Chinese lanterns. That was more than enough. During the dance party, the wedding coordinator brought out balloon streamers which added to the party ambiance.
  • Rain Plan - we were lucky to have the ceremony with no rain, however, right before the main course at the reception a cloud came over us and we had a 10 minute down pour. The wedding coordinator took total control, directed us down to the first floor to finish our dinner and by the time we were done with dinner they notified us that the rain had stopped and the Terrance was ready for us to continue the party. When we got upstairs, all the tables were set up like no rain had come down. Everything was perfectly set up and we finished the party. So thankful that they had it all under control. This is why I say, they know what they are doing and this was the perfect wedding destination.
  • Menu - Crab cake, sancocho, beef and lobster tail. The food was delicious. Only downfall was the amount of guests that did not each lobster tail and the beef was a little over cooked.
  • Photographer/Videographer - We utilized Caribbean Emotions. They were by far, the best vendor to work with. We paid the extra $300 to have external vendors and it was worth it. Michael and Pascal were great to work with. They were patient, creative, and so kind. They captured so many great moments and delivered a great product. Highly recommend their work. You can checkout our wedding trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFusJKGLqIs&feature=share.
  • Cake/Flowers: Turned out great. I did not spend too much time on picking the cake and flower decor but it turned out beautiful.
  • Service - all the staff was great.

Cons:

  • The resort rooms were the biggest disappointment. We were initially assigned to building 5 and after looking checking out our view of a garden and fence I decided to call and request to be moved. I specifically requested building 6 which is the closest to the beach and the VIP club. The suite was much better, larger and with view of the pool. The positive was that they moved us the same night we arrived. Many of our guests had musty and very small rooms. Some requested a change and others did not. Overall, I think the rooms do not match the quality of the resort amenities.
  • Food was good in all restaurants, however, the servings are very small. You can always ask for an extra entree.
  • The beach has a ton of seaweed so its not great for swimming/walking in it. However, the scenery is great and chairs/beach beds are great for relaxing.
  • Spa Beauty Salon - The ladies that work their did not seem very confident with the requests we made for our hair. Carmen was very rude and hard to work with. The pins in our hairdos were falling out within half an hour of getting our hair done. I loved how my hair turned out, however, the falling hair pins was pretty annoying. The day following the wedding I shared my concern one of the managers at the spa. They were very surprised and gave my sister a complimentary message to make up for her bad experience with hair dresser Carmen. My number one advise -- GET YOUR HAIR APPOINTMENTS SET UP FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS IN ADVANCE. My appointment was for 1:30 with only and up-do to be done, didn't even get my hair washed and I did not leave the salon until 3 PM with the ceremony starting at 4 PM. The ladies at the salon are VERY SLOW. On the positive, the masseuse services were excellent. Probably the best message I have had in a long time and my husband agreed.

I cannot right anymore. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Below is one of my favorite pictures taken by Michael from Caribbean Emotions.

    • Good afternoon, I wanted to inquire if anyone has or knows someone who got married at this resort. How was it? How are the coordinators? Packages that were chosen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.
    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
    • Minimalist wedding bands look so classy and timeless regardless of the venue.
