  1. I am getting married at Palma Real in Feb 2016. I booked the bridal suite and will have the salon ladies do hair and make up. Have you done your visit yet? So the actual salon is located at the Reserve, which is a golf cart ride away, and the ladies charge something like $45/person (per person getting ready), to come to a room at the hotel. I booked a package which includes the bridal suite and 5 hair and make ups, which comes out to a pretty good discount (you can reach out to the salon manager for different package prices), and then i am adding 5 more hairs and make up, as i have 9 bridesmaids and my mother, and myself. The manager said she could have 4 girls working on us at the same time which is great. I had to get the bridal suite because all in it ended up being cheaper then having the ladies come to a room, but the bridal suite is not that nice - its small and underwhelming, to be honest. We are not going to do any planned excursions for the whole group, but we are having our rehearsal dinner on La Barcaza on Thurs night (just wedding party and first family) and are going to suggest different excursions for our guests that are staying longer. We are also doing the welcome bbq on Friday night with all guests - and then wedding Saturday.
  2. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 thank you! @@emmapalmer that is the fee the resort charges to use an outside vendor. so if I used an outside vendor i would have to pay $1000 plus whatever the photographer costs. I actually dont mind tropic one photography. I LOVE katya nova, but she is too expensive, so tropic one is not a bad second choice by any means. it sounds like Lala and Rodrigo are the two professional wedding photographers for the Paradisus Resorts - for any ladies who have the same question as me. I got albums for both and I actually think I prefer Rodrigo slightly as his pictures a little more colorful. If anyone has any feedback on tropic one at a Paradisus wedding, please let me know!
  3. Hi ladies! I am getting married at the Paradisus Palma Real in Feb, 2016. We plan on using Tropic One as the photographer and videographer to avoid the $1000 fee. Can anyone recommend a specific photographer that you had at your wedding and loved (or engagement photos)? I would love to request a recommended photographer ahead of time as I am a bit nervous using the resort vendor. I LOVE katya nova photographs but unfortunately she is out of our budget with the fee.
  4. we did passports for STD which are about to be sent out (11 months before wedding), and are going to do boarding passes for invites probably around august. The reason for this is - being a destination wedding, we want people to have as much info as possible early on to book travel, and therefore we felt like we could include a lot of info on the passports and not enough on the boarding passes. we are also having a wedding website with booking instructions and more detailed info. We wanted people to get excited about the destination from the STD so it was important for us to include some pictures and some info on the passport itself too. I know its not traditional, but having a destination wedding is not traditional anyway and we really like the whole travel theme. We used Vanessa's destination wedding passports for our save the dates and they came out absolutely incredible. we only had 4 inside pages, as her 12 page templates are meant for full out invitations, not save the dates, plus we included a lot of the information on dining and activities on our website. We are going to use her for boarding pass invites too (however we plan on asking people to RSVP online so not using the luggage tag option for RSVP). highly suggest vanessa. http://weddingpassports.com/
  5. I just booked my wedding at Paradisus Palma Real for Feb 27th, 2016! beach ceremony and gabi beach club (now called fuego) reception. They only do 2 weddings a day, one on the beach and one in the garden, unlike many other resorts that will have 5+ weddings a day. They also have very good wedding coordinators. My best friend's brother got married there so we have had really good reviews from them. Their romance office is also based in Miami so they are very easy to get in touch with. I emailed Dreams a month ago and they still have not gotten back to me! It is definitely the most expensive one that we have found, but at the end of the day I think it will be worth it.
  6. Just got a response for anyone interested. They will be honoring the "Fall in Love Promotion" prices from 2015 for 2016 dates. So the room blocks start at $279/night/person. Sometimes searching online will find you cheaper rates (like for my dates).
  7. Hi everyone. I am considering booking my wedding at the Palma Real for February of 2016. Initially we wanted to do presidents day, but the room block coordinator said that date is blacked out. I am waiting to hear back on other February availabilities from both the wedding coordinator and the room coordinator (trying to stay within the Entice Me month). We are expecting 100 people. Has anyone yet booked for late 2015, early 2016? If so, what were your room block quotes? i am wondering if the rates they quote will be more expensive then bookit or cheap carribean, etc. Lets use this thread to coordinate weddings for this and next year, get advice, and share opinions!
