  1. It's mostly tulle but has a satin layer....may be heavy but I don't think it should be a problem....it's lighter then my wedding day dress
  2. I vote yes after reading the broken sunglass post lol...def would be useful if that happened. And I only wear expensive ones too except on vacation I bring a few $20 pairs bc df has lost the expensive ones in the ocean as have my parents lol
  3. I am doing indoor and doing rustic beach theme...the bridal party is all bringing cowboy boots for pics, we will play country music mixed with popular music mixed with old school biggie rap as many guests are from Brooklyn and like that...we are prob a jumbled mess but it's our group and what we like.....so do not feel limited...you can do what you want...just bc there is up lighting you don't have to limit yourself ! I am usually totally anxious control freak and ironically with my wedding I am being more of "it is what it is" my family and friends who are going will enjoy a weeklong getaway and are relaxed....half my guests tried to convince me not to have a reception bc they would just party at disco with us but I'm pretty set on my certain moments that require a reception..first dance, dance with my dad, dance with our kids...your wedding will be wonderful as long as you do what you want....if you dream of burlap then make it happen
  4. This is the basic idea except the mason jar will not be a cup and it will have sand and small shells with the tealight...debating on doing burlap runners maybe with lace if I can get used or cheap enough....any suggestions?? I am trying to cut back on expenses....this will have each table costing about $22 bc the bouquet are the bridal party and I figure what else will they do with them during the ceromony lol...I already paid the 100 for 5 bouquets
  5. In the states we have Black Friday and cyber Monday sales....have any of my fellow brides to be found good sales on decor or favors?? I haven't started on oot bags yet and hoping I can pick up some cheap goodies this Friday but haven't read of any deals yet! Share what you find! Thanks
  6. Who did previous brides use for hair and makeup? I can't decide if I want someone who will come to the resort or go off the resort for this....also did recent brides pay guest pass or vendor fee?
  7. I see your point however when my family found out I pay per person extra they were like just have everyone go to one of the bars and party there...but to me I think having dinner together is less important bc we will just be gobbling it up at our tables...I'd rather have the dancing and the ability to have a private dance with my husband and my dad to songs we pick rather then dance at the sports bar to whatever's playing. Them saying they don't care about reception makes me think they assume that includes a dinner which I don't mind passing up if it means I can have A 3 hour dance/drink fest with everyone with a dj, speeches, and everything a wedding entails minus the meal...I'll talk with my parents tomm and see how they feel before I message pilar. It's just everything adds up and there are some things I don't want to compromise on like photographer and dj bc that's what I feel will make the memories....not just a night that whiz zed by. My brothers recent wedding reception was 6 hrs and felt too short so 3 hours is like crazy short in my mind
  8. Thinking outside the box...I have a 5pm ceromony...think there's any way to have everyone get food on their own and then have a 3 hour reception with drinks and dancing? I hate to pay for anyone over 25 and have it cut into party time as I feel 3 hours with dinner and cake will be so rushed...I've been to another destination wedding and the food was ok but if it meant more dancing fun time I would have been willing to grab included dinner from the buffet lol...think it's worth emailing pilar about? And does what I'm asking make sense? I'm starting to panic at the cost plus thinking I won't have enough time with everyone. Ceromony at 5 then pics prob 5-630....only leaves the wedding party 1.5 hrs for dinner and to meet back up....but is 2.5 hours in between too much for the guests? I guess they would have cocktail hour til 630 so maybe it would be ok? Opinions please! Btw I would want cake at the reception so I would be paying whatever extra that is plus having a bar in the area...we are Irish lol
  9. Silly question...are there washers and dryers for guests to use? We have 2 kids and are going for 2 weeks...on long trips I prefer to pack light and do laundry if possible....rather then 14 pairs of jean shorts lol
  10. Interested in: 4 Starfish and raffia aisle chair ties-- coral ribbon and tulle-- $27 4 Sea shell and raffia aisle chair ties-- coral ribbon and tulle-- $27 2 8" Starfish-- used on beach aisle- $5 80 coral chair ties- $20 1 "Love" pennant banner-- Burlap and white lace ribbon-- $5 Bag of shells and sea glass-- used on tables -- $5 How much for shipping to 10301?
  11. My problem with the dj cost is the dj himself quoted cheaper then the resort...so it's almost like the resort is charging a vendor fee anyway to use him if for 750 I could get 3 hours and light package...950 for 4 hours and lights....I feel like I'm getting ripped off lol
  12. Dj question....now jade says their dj's are 1000 for 3 hours right? Well one of their DNA I got a price from and it's 750usd for the dj and lights....I'm confused....using them I thought I wouldn't be paying a vendor fee but do they really just charge more for them? I know if I email pilar or whoever is there now it will be days or weeks til I hear from them. Has anyone dealt with this before? Also previous brides if you paid the 1000 did you get lights included? (Not the dance floor that's separate charge from both)
  13. Yay I'm happy you girls think it's a good gift. I've been going crazy trying to figure out what to get as they are all different types and I didn't want to have to get each something diff but try and spend the same...at least this is something I know they will use at least for the week they are in Mexico
  14. Good idea or no? I am pretty sure none of the bms have them. I bought one on amazon last yr for about $60 and it works great. I am at a loss of what to get them and this seems like a good idea to me but my fiancé made a funny face when I said it lol....so what are your opinions? When I was a bm she got us coach small bags and a Alex and ani bracelet....but it was a local wedding and we used our bags the day of wedding. I feel like I don't want to copy her idea plus the cameras are kinda going along with the vacation theme
  15. Can you email me the list? [email protected] I am bringing 2 kids so it will be helpful I'm sure!
  16. I'd love to take them off your hands...what are you asking for them?
  17. They do have a kids club but I def want them at the wedding party...I'll have to look more into it
  18. Yea most likely my kids will last for the reception bc it's only til 10 or 11pm....and my parents won't mind going to their room then anyway...but I feel if the kids had someone to basically ensure their happiness it would be best....my daughter 3 will want to dance around, eat on demand, and go to the bathroom with a minutes notice...I won't be easily able to do all that in a gown....heck I was told at the bridal store I will need assistance just too letting myself lol. My son 10 will basically just be sure he has access to his ipod bc at every wedding we go to it's what he wants....especially if there aren't other kids his age going which unfortunately there likely won't be
  19. I have 2 kids that will be 10 and 3...obviously they will be a big part of our day and yea surrounded by all friends and loved ones...but fiancé and I drink as do a large part of our friends and family...my parents don't. I don't want my parents to feel obligated to babysit at our wedding neither do I want me and fiancé to be up there butts all night. I'm a paranoid mom around water and even though our reception will be inside id like an extra set of eyes on the kids. Would it be crazy to hire someone to do this? And does anyone know if now jade has babysitters available for after hours? I just feel like all our pics will be of us parenting and not wedding like. I want the kids around but I would like their needs to be met throughout the night without interfering with everyone having a good time...is it crazy to hire someone to do this? There may be as many as 8 kids going but I doubt anyone else is bringing theirs. My parents will have the kids the wedding night and it would only be for the length of reception. Just curious if other mom brides have done similar
  20. I saw the link on Octavio montes website and just wondering if anyone used them?? Can't find any reviews when I search
  21. Ugh I'm so frustrated bc we booked and several guests did too...but now jade has started an offer for the groups to get 6th room free every 5 booked...but since the guests who booked did a price match it's not valid for them...almost left the travel agent in tears as we would have saved at least 2500 with the already booked rooms....now I'm praying they offer a kids free package during our vaca time cuz I can rebook mine and it would save about 2000
