When we booked the Melia Varadero for January the ocean vista azul wasn't even in the search results but as you said it's close so when we walked the beach to explore we saw it!!!!
We loved the Melia Varadero. They have some great upgrades (the level) and we felt the food was fantastic. We really loved it. The gazebo was great too!!

Yes, she never heard of it and then when I asked for quote anyway she came back with $2498 for a basic room in the off season. I said for 7 days? More than a year away? In the fall during hurricane season? So I am searching for another agent that is recommended by someone I know who has done many. I did not like her prices. She knew we wanted kids at the wedding as we wanted to not leave friends with kids out from coming, she recommended adult only resorts, this meant she was not listening. If I have a flew yellow and red flags before signing. They are out.
Hopefully the next one works out!!
We just stayed at the Melia Varadero and loved it. There was a wedding or two while we were there.
Some others on the board married at the Ocean Patricia and the Iberostar Laguna Azul and Iberostar Varadero.

I am also looking at this resort. Ironically the "destination wedding specialist" never heard of it nor was it in her top 5 so that made me want to chose another travel agent as it is a popular resort. So now I am on the hunt to figure out what company to chose as a travel agent for all my guests.
I would love to hear from you afterwards as this is on my list.
Interesting she'd never heard of it. Even if it wasn't popular with brides it's a popular resort in Cuba and makes the top 10 list. I love Cuba. What else made your list?

Hey!
I asked for little makeup and very natural!! If you show them those pics I am sure they could replicate. Make sure you get Carmen or Isis. And they will do whatever until you are happy! My sisters makeup wasn't very 'thick' haha as she had a third artist and wasn't happy so mine fixed her right up I could never do mine myself so I have no experience there sorry!
Love the second pic of nails you posted too. I had something very similar except my sparkle at the edge of the white wasn't as thick. I'd probably go for gel/shellac over stick on In case they don't hold well -- that said I'm sure they've come along way since I used them in grade school hehe. I know those jam berries stick well!
Have fun at your shower

I went to Perfect Stitches in Beddington as it was close to home. She did a fabulous job and took pride in her work. They were also very reasonably priced.
Ellie was her name and their number is 403 730 5070
I didn't have my dressed cleaned but the seamstress recommended Gilette and gives a discount.

I'm worried about it affecting attendance at my Dec wedding as well. I thought I read in an article that if a normal person gets it, they recover in a few days and it's not a big deal. However, for pregnant women, it's a different story. I'm really hoping it's not an issue in December. One of my bridesmaids is talking about having another baby soon, so I might lose her now.

If she wants to conceive soon you may lose her anyways. She'd be due late this year and may not want to travel with a young baby or leave them at home!!!
Pregnancy and destination weddings are a tricky one

We didn't do vows because I'm shy and also didn't want to be a crying mess lol. When we did our legal and all the repeat after me stuff I could barely keep it together. Thankfully in Mexico all we had to say was 'I do' while this was nice sometimes I wish we did more!

Hey! @@vivitazy
We did tumbler cups with hangover/oh shit kits inside
We had fans on the ceremony chairs
Then did maracas for the reception with a cute inscription. Guests loved them
'Instead of tapping on your glass here's a (tradition) with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might to see the groom
Kiss his bride tonight' tradition may have been the wrong word. Got the maracas from Amols online for $1.65 per pair. Super cheap and I used a marker to personalize with our names. See my planning threads for pics

Very beautiful vows!!!
Awe love all the photos!
Hehe shoes. While I totally agree I didn't even notice their shoes. Isn't it funny what we notice and don't notice

Hahah yes I went back and looked.
Odd observation and question. Did it bother you their shirts weren't buttoned up all the way?
Odd things that bothered me after the fact -- shirts not buttoned up higher, poor iron job by Shawn (he says his mom - ya right) and that he didn't shave his head hahah
Thinking more ... Not sure why the shirts not buttoned all the way up bothered me. Maybe I just assumed they would??? They by no means look bad --- much sexier in your men haha but I do remember saying something to Shawn. He told me to be thankful as one groomsmen only wanted to button a few up lol

You guys rawk. I'm so pale that I can go in for 5 mins a couple times a week and may still burn. 3 weeks would have done nothing for me. Well a month didn't even -- I tried to tan for mine and just didn't start soon enough lol. I didn't commit that much either though.

I think they are gorgeous and you did a fantastic job. Doesn't look fake at all.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding
Good info Ann. I may have considered bringing some of mine home to bottle!

I think both belts look great so def go with what is more your taste!
You could also consider a trial in Mexico with your hair down to see if it holds. Then make the final call on the wedding day!?
Ohhhhhh I must have missed (or forgotten sorry) that you were doing a yacht excursion. That's so fantastic !!! That is more than enough for sure!!!! I thought maybe the golf was the guys gift
I feel your struggle with the spa given the girls may want different things.
That's awesome for the credit. I feel your frustration on how the credit works! It's still great you got your trip free. Maybe take the rest and split is amongst everyone?!
The dress is summery but personally you look great in it and I would wear it in March

It's really to bad about Adventure. I paid $1600 US for 7 hours! If you can find someone at home it could be an advantage. Good luck

ok, i have decided to go with the silver package,
and i added an hour more of cocktail party after the ceremony and after the restaurent ive gotten the private beach party and some lights.,
now, im looking at the photographs, some seem so amazing, but my man is going nuts with the prices,
i have not seen anything that would come under 2000$(changing to canadian) and thats for 3hrs,
and it would cost 1000$ cad to fly someone for 3 days, who could be there the whole day ! i think im going to try to bring someone
things are moving along !!!!
Congrats on finalizing that
We got lucky that Adventure Photos hadn't increased their pricing yet (it's absurd now) Some vendors you may consider (from my research) who are reasonable in price are : Bohemia Photography, Samuel Luna, Lancelloti and Octavio Montes. If you can't find someone back home. Good luck!

Your dress looks gorgeous!!
Glad you had fun that does sound like a super fun time and no awful hangover the next day!!! Haha.
4 weeks is seriously going to fly by but your to do list will keep your mind off the anticipation a bit
I feel you on the dollar. We considered Hawaii for our anniversary trip but couldn't justify it. Haha Cuba has the same exchange so we just limited what we did but harder in Hawaii when you pay everything yourself and in US! Let us know what you choose! Another idea is fly to Cancun and take a bus to Belize. It's super cheap and fairly quick (flying into Belize is pricey).

Isis and Carmen also do the hair! Sorry I can't recall off the top of my head if they were doing your hair!
I would be nervous for the wood planks and heals because you won't be able to see your feet under your dress to place them properly. Id probably go barefoot or with sandals for the ceremony to be safe!!! I personally wanted sand only and arrived to the white isle runner.
Your vow books are great!!
Yay time is flying. Super stoked to see how it all goes!
