  1. Well we did it!!!!

And it was the most amazing day ever. It was absolutely perfect. We got married on the beach at 4pm and a private reception in the palapa. 28 people, it was perfect. We had the BBQ buffet which was amazing! And partied the night away, staff were amazing. My glass was never empty!

Here's a few of our pics, we used adventure photos who we only booked 2 days before! And so glad we did because he was amazing.

Myself and the bridesmaids had our hair and make up at the spa and they were great. They have a I got book of hairstyles to choose from. My hair in particular was amazing! I was so pleased with it. The only thing I would say that if paying it is pricey!

It was the most amazing day and holiday and wouldn't change a thing! Any questions please just ask!!

Absolutely stunning! I am so glad everything went off without a hitch!!  Looks gorgeous... Thank you for sharing your pictures.

  2. Hi ladies!

So it's only 11 weeks until our big day!!

I'm just finalising all of our choices and I have a few questions, if anybody could answer I would be so greatful.

First is ceremony music- walking down the aisle. What did you have? Is it played through a speaker?! Could I have a violinist or something?

Next is reception dinner, did anybody have the BBQ option? If so how was it? Is it served like a buffet or do I need to pick exact dishes?

anybody know how long it takes in the golf buggy to get to the private beach from the hotel? (Forms are asking for lots of times and I have no idea how to time it!)

Can I have drinks reception on the beach after ceremony?

Honestly I'd appreciate any wealth of information right now. I'm freaking out but excited! 32 of us going!

    Thanks in advance,

    Keely.

Hope your wedding was fabulous. Please post pics :)

  3. Hello Keely, I have answered below, hope it helps :)

    Hi ladies!
So it's only 11 weeks until our big day!!

I'm just finalising all of our choices and I have a few questions, if anybody could answer I would be so greatful.

First is ceremony music- walking down the aisle. What did you have? Is it played through a speaker?! Could I have a violinist or something?  They have someone on the beach to play the music for you thru the speakers. I believe you can hire live music, there was options in the price list

Next is reception dinner, did anybody have the BBQ option? If so how was it? Is it served like a buffet or do I need to pick exact dishes?  BBQ menu is a buffet. There was 3-4 different proteins including fish. Different starches, veggies, fruit, buns, etc.  Was very good.

anybody know how long it takes in the golf buggy to get to the private beach from the hotel? (Forms are asking for lots of times and I have no idea how to time it!)  Our ceremony was at 3pm and they started shuttling people from the lobby at 2pm.  We get the last ride as bride with your party, dad, etc.   So we had about 40 people go on the shuttle. Took the whole hour.

Can I have drinks reception on the beach after ceremony?  Yes the cost is per person per hour for the booze package you want (cheap, medium, premium etc)

Honestly I'd appreciate any wealth of information right now. I'm freaking out but excited! 32 of us going!

    Thanks in advance,
    Keely.

  4. You should ask them, for that price, to make it a 10 year passport!  Sucks you have to change it just before leaving, to come back and need a name change too!

Feel better, I know it's going around. I have been sick going on a 4 weeks but nothing like bronchitis.

Tuesday will be here before you know it. I can't wait to see all the pictures. Good luck and remember to slow down and take it all in! Goes super fast.

  5. Everything looks fantastic. You you very talented.

Love the flowers... do you plan to use your BM's bouquets as your centre pieces or did you just decided to use what you said above? Either way, sounds fantastic and I really can't wait to see pictures :)

I will try to pop on once in awhile to keep up to speed :)

PS - with respect to baggage... remember you can use a small suitcase for each of you as a carry on... push that carry on weight to the max!!!!  Also, if your friends/family don't need a large carry on (or two can share between them) use them for another carry on!  (or even checked bag if they are sharing)

  6. A question for past GS Brides. I'm starting to fill paperwork out with all our desicisions and I have a couple of questions.

Flowers, I'm having a hard time picking out flowers for the alter and my wedding party. My colours are purple with accents of orange with a starfish theme. My groom really wants birds of paradise so any orange I'm choosing that. Should my bouquet flowers match the types of flowers that the gazebo is decorating in or is ok to have completely different flowers?

Also I need ideas for decorating the aisle way and tables for the reception. What did you ladies do? I'm trying to keep within a tight budget and I'm not wanting to add to much extras.

Hey, I think if you match your colors and some of the flowers you should be ok. If you pick an accent one - like birds of paradise- but only see it in your bouquet or the alter that would work well.  I wouldn't have roses in your bouquet and gerbers on the alter... I would make sure some of them atleast are in both places.  Also remember if you want a color you don't see in the brochures they can paint them.. in my bouquet the turquoise roses are painted... soooo glad I chose that!

I didn't want the isle runner, but she put it out without me knowing (and for free!!!)  In the end it was super pretty but more than one bridal party member and my dad tripped on it ugh!   Personally I think if you just get one bag of roses for them to sprinkle the isle you will be set!!!  That is under $20 from what I remember.

For decor I was fairly cheap ....  I had 3-6 candles per table, 1 frame, 1 vase....  then we used our bridemaid's bouquets for the centrepieces (I ordered 1 extra to have enough)... my BMs bouquets weren't overly expensive but I asked for a quote for them as I thought the price in the brochures for what I wanted seemed high....  I had 3 gerber daisy bouquets for around $30 each.   A lot of brides also bring fake flowers, and truth be told, you don't need flowers on the tables... Noone cares LOL!!! it's more about you..and if you are comfortable with them not being there.    They will use the alter flowers for your head table and cake table...   I also had a couple frames and a card box for my guestbook/seating chart table.

And PS - my candle holders were like 3 for $1 at Dollarama and my frames with coupon were like $1.50 at Michaels...   Bargain shop and use coupons.

    I left everything there....

I would say my most expensive piece was the card box (more like treasure chest) at $15 but I use it now to store all my wedding memories.

Another thing I spent a bit more on was the 'best day ever' banner for my head table... but I opted for heavy cardstock over the wood...  you can make cheaper decisions forsure :)

  7. Hey some new brides!!! Yay!!

I didn't have the presidential package but I did upgrade to the palapa and it was beautiful. I can't even begin to describe how perfect it is for a wedding celebration. I am not sure I recall a past bride on here who used the beach sorry!!

Photography was hard for me. I'll start off by saying that when I used Adventure Photos in Jan 2015 they were SOO much cheaper than they are today. That said, at first I didn't really think photography was important to me so I booked an hour then changed to 3 and ended up with 7. I honestly look at my photos daily and am so happy I got them.

But I totally understand the cost and the budget. I was a budget bride 100% but like I said I paid $1600 US for 7 hours. (Typing that made me cringe)

My photographer isn't there anymore but has her own company with her husband - Cielito Lindo. I can find their webpage (I did a search and it was plentiful ugh) but some others over my time on here that have been reasonable are - Samual Luna, Lancelotti, Bohemia, Dean Sanderson and someone with Nunez in their name ?? Gonzalez maybe.

I searched high and low trust me. It was awhile back and prices change but look at their work and see who connects with you and reach out. You may be surprised. Pick a budget and see what you can find within it. I didn't need 7 hours. With the prices I see today I would have totally just done 3 or so.

    Good luck!

  8. Congrats!! You may get more responses in the actual GS brides thread. This one is the planning thread for Janelle! I married in 2015 at the GS and I know the packages have changed. Winnipeg bride might have the updated ones as her wedding is in January! If you have any questions let me know :) @@Chelseaslove

  9. If you mean the pantyhose I think you do, I would say skip that. It will be so hot already! Make sure your underwear is nude as white shows under white.

    I wonder flat dressy sandals.

  11. Looks like a lovely shower :) that's neat your are both marrying at the same resort. It's fun once you've booked or married at a resort to find so many people you know who have been or have married at the same one. See it's a great resort girl :)

Your struggles is exactly why we married on the down low. Not many people know! I was worried my family would care but honestly when we were in Mexico they all said 'you should have legally married at home it would be so much easier' hehe little do they know :) so that said they didn't seem to care much cause like you said Mexico is the wedding.

  12. No we covered most of the bases. I brought extra things we didn't need; like a sewing kit, our extra ribbon we used and such. But we did use scissors and a lot so bring those!

Also make sure you have something to get all your stuff to the WC office. I bought large zip lock type bags and had one per table and sorted all decor like that out for her. Then I had a Tupperware bin or two (shoe box size) with other stuff in it. Made it easier to transport back and forth; not only to their office but also to organize in and keep it safe in your suitcase.
