  1. I understand your feelings. You have to decide what works for you and go with it - time and price wise - because you will never ever make everyone happy! And some people no matter how hard you bend over backwards to please them won't come anyways (annoyed me immensely)

Our resort didn't have the half of what the Sandos did for kids and we paid $950 Ish for child one and close to $1100 for child two

Not sure what $3750 includes but it's not an awful price. But again depends what it includes. We had 45 guests and tonnes of upgrades for around $5500-6500 Canadian.

I understand feeling bad on the cost - we had families pay that and more for their week. But it's also a week long vacation for them. And you don't want to skimp to much on resort so that you get a crappy place. It's a tough fine line.

Have you considered maybe the Puerto Vallarta side?

  2. Welcome and congrats. Have you considered the Sandos Caracol? Their water park and kids club are fantastic.

The GBP attracts a lot of weddings and the Coba has the water park (although not beach front resort) so it's another good option.

I agree. I wouldn't bank on discounts for numbers booked etc. as sometimes we feel everyone will come but it's just not the way it goes -- every bride or groom on here has their story.

Have you considered, aside from the kid aspect and the price aspect of these resorts, the wedding packages that are offered. Thinking of 1. Do they Suit your desires/dreams for your wedding 2. Are within your budget. 3. Handle your group size etc etc That's a big thing -- they aren't all the same. I'd start (if you haven't already) looking at that aspect and it may help knock some off your list. I always felt I found a great price and then the wedding packages fell short and I was back at square one.

    Good luck

  3. We didn't pay for the MC. We had our friend who at the last minute lost his voice so my brother in law stepped in. Like you they had the right personalities.

That said our waitstaff was a blast and would come out and dance. Or teach us dances. It was so much fun. Hence my feelings they deserved a lot more for the service and the fun they provided!

Krystal - don't think o realized you had hired the MC. Glad he was so fantastic :)

  4. The pics didn't work :( but they sound adorable.

That's quite a bus ride expense but nice of you to include it for your guests. I'll be in Windsor this summer visiting my husbands family :)

I didn't ask mine so cutely.. Just asked lol. I'm lame. If it wasn't for this site (which I found a month or so after invites went out) I would have had the lamest destination wedding ever haha!!!

  5. We tipped Aranza $75, the photographer $50 and about $180 for her to split amongst the waitstaff etc. so DJ and more. Hindsite, like Krystal, it wasn't enough for the service they provided. Go high on this one. I saw the main guy the next day and tipped him double for dinner as I felt bad! Lol. I have no idea if anyone at our wedding tipped.

  6. Thanks for thinking of me. I've been MIA around here and Facebook (apologize for no responses to some things. Trying to catch up).

We are booked for July 28-Aug 6. Given our timeline (Shawn's family doesn't live in Toronto) I would be looking at August 5 Friday evening after Canada's Wonderland.

If it doesn't work it doesn't. I totally understand and can't really give much more for flexibility lol.

    If it does yay!

  7. At my meeting she showed me the ribbons and asked what one I wanted. No charge. And they pick flowers off the ceremony ones to put on the cake. This was just done. I told her want I wanted in the pre packages and it was included.

They used the gazebo flowers on the head table and the ceremony table flowers on the cake table.

For centerpieces I brought my own stuff but used the bridesmaids bouquets to not spent money twice.

I think you only pay for extra flowers for BMs or decor (if they even offer it) but that's just my experience.

    Good luck

  8. Sorry to hear about his nephew. That's awful :(

If you do pay for petals at the resort you won't need two bags. We had one and my daughter barely sprinkled half out. And they put some on the isle for you!

What do you mean by decorate the cake? Like a cake topper? They'll do ribbon and flower for you - for free.

You will be a busy lady but helps pass the last week of anxiousness.

Have a blast and please post pics!

  9. @@calgarybride2015 yes I'm doing my best to remember that and in the end I know it will be a day that I'll remember and cherish forever!

For some reason I thought when eating at the a la carte they only served wine. I thought I read that somewhere but I'll double check to make sure.

That's odd. I ate in an a'la carte 3 times (rehearsal and 2 others) and I got any drink I wanted.

If they try to charge you over and above wine I would fight that tooth and nail lol

  10. I didn't get any people included. As I upgraded my location I had to pay for all. Yes it's an AI but you are paying for the one on one service and it's good! So try to remember that as you can't get them to change it, so we gotta live with it.

All packages include open bar for the length of the package. So for you - 4 hours. If you extend your time (unsure if you can in an a'la carte) then you'd pay open bar. Unless something major has changed.

  11. So I think a bunch of us did the Free Wedding with Palapa upgrade. It's been so many emails, and so many documents. I got it in my head that they would steam my dress as part of this package. But now looking back at my emails I can't seem to see anything about this. Do they steam my dress, and press the groom's outfit?

Not in the free package, no. I borrowed my friends travel steamer. Or you could buy one. The prices I was given for steaming on site were outrageous.
