  1. @@pddcmc Do you know who you spoke with? I was wondering about the same thing and David Carrillo informed me something different. This was his exact e-mail : Full day pass rate is 85 USD per person (from 10 AM to 11 PM). Day passes are based on availability. I recommend you to verify availability with your wedding coordinator. She will contact you 3 months before the wedding. We do not allow outside vendors, except from photographer/videographer. The fee for this is 150 USD per photographer. This fee could be waived if the photographer stays for at least 3 nights at the resort. I wanted to bring in my makeup artist. Are we not allowed to bring them? I've seen other makeup artists at the resort from past weddings! I know vendors fees are to be expected but come on. Hotels that charge these are definitely taking advantage of brides because they know that some of these brides are willing to pay regardless. I'm thinking of just booking a room for a night at another hotel near Dreams Riviera Cancun. Just so they can do my makeup if they won't waive the vendor fee. Does anyone know any hotels near Dreams?
  2. Hey @@delrosa4, I have sooo many questions! Who was your wedding coordinator? Who were your all your vendors? Did you like them, would you recommend them? How was the food? What food did you eat? How did you ceremony go? Any Pros or Cons of GCB? How was your setup for example your dancefloor and tables? Did you have a sweetheart table or did you dine with your guest? Do you have any pictures that you would like to share? When did you get married? How many guests were there? If you had to do it all over again, what would keep, what could you do without, what would you have changed? Sorry I just have so many questions! Really looking forward from hearing from you! Thanks, Beverle
  3. Hey @@acw271011. I have been trying to research information myself but they only way I can think of getting information is talking to other brides from the videos or photos I've seen that have been taken at Grand Coral.I find it would be a hassle to get into contact with them. Well when I originally started looking for our venue (beginning of 2014) we said we'll just stick to a resort wedding. Then after researching some more I found that more brides were doing off site venues. I found Grand Coral and I instantly fell in love with the venue! However I was not impressed with the hefty price tag so I decided that I would just stick with my resort. I'm staying at Dreams Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morales btw. The coordinators were very kind in sending me packages when I asked. But they said they wouldn't start planning my wedding until 3 months before my wedding. There were a lot unanswered questions, communication was slow and just a lot of stuff and information thrown all at once but I never got to get the full picture. Basically I felt lost! I did take into consideration that the resort was planning multiple weddings. Can't blame them. So I came to this website and read a couple of reviews, listened to other brides planning, etc. I did start some of the other planning in the meantime but I honestly felt like it was a waiting game while I tried to figure out what was the next step. A lot of the brides were telling me of some obstacles they had to face such as vendor fees, overpriced florals, limited amount of time for reception basically nickel-and-diming everything. Like every resorts mantra is..."You can have the wedding of your dreams, but your going to have to pay an arm and a leg for it!" After all that I decided just to look into to other possible venues. No other venue could compare to how I felt with GCB plus it was the closest venue to our resort. Anyways luckily GCB was having a promotion and I jumped on the chance! (FYI: Their promotion is any weddings held from Monday - Thursday the rental fee of the property is $800 USD instead of their usual $2000 USD fee along with a food promo package as well.) So yeah right now I'm just looking for feedback from past brides or anyone that is currently planning their off-site wedding. Let me know where you are in your planning I am more than happy to help as well! @@dreamweddings Hello Joyce! Yes I definitely agree it would be a smoother transition for all brides. Hopefully other brides will be able to see this and start posting.
  4. Hello Future Brides, So I have been looking at other posts regarding Grand Coral or other off site venues but I haven't seen anything newly updated. I recently changed my venue in the beginning of this year. Right now I am in the process of securing my venue. Would love to hear any brides that are doing an off site venue or past brides that have dealt with Grand Coral. Would really appreciate the feedback. Many thanks, Bev
  5. @@smileitseb Yay that's awesome! That's one less thing to worry about Yeah I agree, the resort photographers and videographers aren't as great as the outside ones. @@nattiegams325 Styling Trio work is amazing just trying to see if I can work him in my budget. Did you also have to pay a vendor fee for Styling Trio? Oh and by the way Happy Holidays Ladies!
  6. @@nattiegams325 How did you find Indigo Videography? I have been trying to find Videographers but their just ok. Is Dreams charging you a vendor fee for them? Also who is doing your hair and makeup? Were you able to get a trial done while you were there? Sorry to ask so many questions. @@smileitseb Did you end up finding a VIdeographer? If so, who did you go with?
  7. I'm also getting married on a Wednesday but so far no one has contacted me. They said they would contact me within 3-4 months of my wedding date. However, I did book the ceremony for 4:30pm and reserved the pool deck for 6:00pm. @@nattiegams325 When you went to the food tasting can you remember what they had for the silver, gold and platinum menu? Is there a big difference? Also are they still flexible about not using the cocktail hour and using that to add to the reception time?

Book five rooms, receive the sixth room free! 1 complimentary room upgrade for every 10 rooms per night paid! Is that something that your travel agent mentioned to you?

  11. Hello everyone! June 3,2015. So far I have not been been able to contact anyone. My travel agent says they don't start planning until 3 months prior to the date. But I wish I could start. Right now I'm just working on the Welcome Bags as well. @nattigams325 your dress looks amazing! Good idea on starting this thread!
  12. Hello future brides! Does anyone have access to the excel spreadsheet for Dreams Riviera Cancun that automatically calculates your budget? I found it before but I have now misplaced it. Thanks!
  13. From the quote I got from my TA it was more affordable for my guests. My wedding will be in June. July and August was completely out of budget for both resorts. Thank You! It's been a long process and it was just choosing the resort alone.
  14. We have official choose Dreams Riviera Cancun as of today! I was contemplating back and forth for the longest time and I truly love the design and aesthetic of the resort and just everyone had an amazing time at Dreams. My first choice was Paradisus but it is way over budget and the closest resort to come to that is Dreams. The reason why I choose not to go to Moon Palace is because of the beach. My fiancee and I have been there and the beach is not the best. We were there in 2011 as we stayed an Cancun Palace now known as Hard Rock. I have guests that are coming to an all inclusive for the first time and if I were a guest at my wedding I would like to go to a decent beach. The beach is one of my top priorities. The Palace resorts is definitely the best bang for your buck! If the perks is something that is really and truly important to you I would suggest to go with Palace. You get to free calls to the US/Canada, $1500 resort credit and so on and so on. But the Palace resorts have now added %17 surcharge on the use of the resort credits since I have been there. I have been quoted for that resort and I don't want my guests to pay that extra $255 on top of their flight and accommodation. That is if they use all of the resort credits. My guests would be paying $2000++, I might as well have booked Paradisus. But the Palaces are still a great choice none the less. I ended up choosing Dreams because of all the great reviews here from the brides and I just really like how the resort looks. Unfortunately we just have to pay more to get our Dream wedding. I wish you the best and please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. Choosing the resort was the hardest part. Good Luck !!
  15. Can you also e-mail me the spreadsheet? Would really appreciate it! bev.john.arceo@@gmail.com Thank you!
  16. Thank you for your suggestions! I have narrowed it down to Moon Palace and Playacar Palace. Hey Lynie! Right now I have decided between Moon Palace and Playacar Palace. I just can't pass the opportunity for their awesome perks in which my guest will enjoy. I actually stayed at Cancun Palace but now it is the Hard Rock Cancun and prior to their name change I really appreciated the fact that I could speak with my family even when I was on vacation. So thank you for your suggestion as well. I'll let you know which I end up picking How is your planning going?
  17. Hello Past &Future Brides!! So I am planning for my June 2015 wedding. (I know I have a long way to go but time flies!) I have finally narrowed down my search to 3 resorts and in desperate need in figuring out which resort to choose from. I actually originally choose Paradisus La Esmeralda but it was out of my budget ($2000+/pp). My budget is $1600-$1800 and I am looking for family friendly resorts. I'm currently stuck on deciding between Moon Palace, Playacar Palace and Dreams Riviera Cancun. All 3 have pros and cons that I have accumulated by reading from Trip Advisor and BDW. Moon Palace Pros: - They have plenty amenities which is great for my guests as they will never get bored -All Palace resorts allows you access to other Palace resorts -Perks, perks, perks! Cons: - Beach is unappealing - Resort is massive about 2000 rooms! (its good and bad actually, alot of amenities but lots of walking) Meet ups sounds like it might be a challenge. Playacar Palace Pros: -Location is great, its right next door to 5th ave - Access to Moon and Cozumel which you can take the ferry - Beach is AMAZING from pictures (the WOW factor of this resort) - Currently #18/196 Playa del Carmen and #41/341 of all of Riviera Maya (it gets a ton of great reviews) - Perks galore $1500 resort credit. free calls to canada/usa - Every 11th person is free! Up to 3 including accommodation and airfare! Cons: - Size - 208 rooms quite small, only 3 restaurants and 1 huge pool - Nightlife- Is there any? Looks like theirs no nightlife and my guests love to party and so do I - Decor - ok don't get me wrong but I love the modern look but it just seems a little plain. It's that clean simple modern feel -Lobby- boring not much of a WOW factor (My concern is I just don't want my guests to get bored or sick of the food) Dreams Riviera Cancun Pros: - This place is very picturesque, looks gorgeous in pictures! - Reasonable size about 400 rooms, not too small and not too big - Variety of restaurants and different reception and ceremony locations - I love the reception location on the pool deck (this is where I fell in love with the resort) - Location about 25 mins away from the airport and 25 mins away from 5th ave. - Every 6th room booked is free (but just the room, not including airfare) up to 4 rooms free Cons: - Mixed Reviews on Trip Advisor, currently #6/23 puerto morales and #104/341 RM - beach is meh...so-so - Well I got the package from Dreams and basically everything is a la carte and pricey I might add. - From reading from reviews it seems like they will nickel and dime you for everything and they don't seem to be very flexible My dilemma is Dreams looks beautiful for a wedding and I the size is perfect but it seems it will be pricey. Hey I want my dream wedding but I am not about to pay an arm or a leg for it. But Palace they seem like they have great perks. I'm so confused and would appreciate anyone's feedback, suggestions. I honestly feel like Goldilocks and the 3 Resorts . So any help is great help! Future thanks to everyone that responds! Thanks, Bev
