  1. Question for those that did the trash the dress photo sessions.   How long did it take for your dress to dry?

we are getting married on a Tuesday and were thinking of doing a trash the dress session either the day after or Thursday.  We are going to do pictures on beach in the sand and partial in ocean/pool.    I know I can hang dry it and also have the resort dry clean it.   Just worried it won't be dry or ready since we depart on Friday afternoon.

Do you think a day or two is enough time for my dress to be cleaned or should I use another dress?

I do have another wedding dress that is very light weight, typical destination dress.   However, its from my previous marriage.  I just never was able to re-sell it.  I really wouldn't care if that one got ruined or even left behind.   I just feel really weird using it for this.

    What do you all recommend?

  2. Does anyone know what type of makeup the salon at Moon Palace has?

Was wondering the same thing..   I also heard that the salon at Moon Palace just started using airbrush makeup.   Looking for reviews on both what type of regular makeup they use and on their airbush makeup...

on tight budget so prob gonna have to use my resort credits for the salon

  3. @@mspellman1    We are getting married there two days before you on June 23!!!  Maybe we will run into one another :)

We are getting married at the Tucan Gazebo.  Then we are doing the Tucan Garden or Tucan Terrace for cocktail party.   Depending on the size of our wedding group we may either have the reception at that terrace or if we have too many people  may move it to a terrace on the Grand side.

The only rooftop location is at the Caribbeano Restaurant.  However, they charge you an extra fee per person for that.

  4. @Dreamteam17   it was much cheaper to do my self.  I purchased the small already made bouquets from either Michaels or hobby lobby.  they had different colors each had about 4-5 flowers in them.  I used clippers to open up the seal holding them, then purchased and added other color flowers I liked to make them bigger and to the colors I liked.   wrapped in floral green tape, then glue gunned my ribbon around the green tape to cover it up and seal again.

I had received a gift card from my electric company for being good customer,  watched for sales and clipped coupons.   After, all that my only out of pocket expense was about $60.    that was for my bouquet and 7 small bouquets.

with out the discounts I probably would have paid about $130-160

it is somewhat time consuming..  if you shop on etsy you can sometimes find great deals on there too. they will customize it exactly how you want.  Even if you find one that states its for a package of 10; you can email them and ask if they can make it smaller package or just one or two items..

another idea, bouquet for you, and single flowers for bridesmaids...

  5. at first I thought the same thing...  I've done tons of window shopping around.   my bridesmaids  dresses are coral..   our décor is mix of white, coral and mint/light aqua blue.

I made my own bouquets.  I found a tiny small one at either Michaels or Hobby Lobby (just in floral section not in wedding section).    I opened the wrapping up and added other color flowers I liked.

for floral try Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann Fabrics (that is where I found mint flowers).

If you go to my gallery you can see a pic of my flowers I made.

for table /chair linens try tablelinendirect.com     they have tons of options and great prices.

another thing I did was purchased a small color swatch of the coral and blue I wanted from Davids Bridal.   I think they were about $1-4 each.  can't remember.  I carry that with me around to see if I find things to match up with it.

  6. So, we finally decided we are going to have all our bridesmaids in Coral  (guava color from Davids Bridal).   I told each girl to pick a short or high-low dress in the color any dress style of their choice.   For shoes they will either wear silver or champange sandals.

the Groom's mother will be wearing a mint/aqua color dress

We're also going to use coral and mint as our decor colors:

bridesmaids flowers  -     I made silk bouquets with white, coral, pink flowers and added 1 mint flower in each.  with white ribbon around handle and tied a small aqua ribbon bow at top of handle.

Bride Bouquet  -    Same as the bridesmaides, but larger and has 4 mint flowers, white feathers, 4 small pearl rhinesones and 5 starfish brooch pins.

we are going to use their flowers as centerpieces for reception.  Going to make vases  using aqua Blumebox holders decorated with silver sparkle and starfish.

for table linens havent decided yet but these are our choices:

mint runners  with coral napkins  and mint maracas

burlap runners with coral napkins and mint maracs

    mint & color cocktail straws

if you go to my page on here you can see pics of the bouquets on my DIY photos

  7. Okay so just found out that there is different buffet menu for over 50 guests. Sad cuz we liked the Cajun for smaller buffet. Not loving the larger buffets

For those that had buffet menu for over 50 guests what did you like or dislike for food?

    Could you substitute?

I've heard some will allow 1-2 items substituted, but other brides have gotten 3 items.

We are thinking of doing BBQ buffet but wondering what exactly is the different salads. Listed is:

    Green salad

    Tomato salad

    Cucumber salad

    Corn salad

    Potato salad

Are these all different or just toppings for the green salad?

Did anyone get a pasta salad or shrimp pasta salad???

  9. just wondering on topic of cocktail and buffet menus:

    which ones did you choose?

    what items did you substitute?

What items did you and guest love and hate?

torn between the two gazebo's.   We really like the Tucan Gazebo and the garden/terrace area, but worried the walk down the aisle to the gazebo is long.  worried it might be too long walk for future father in law.   About how long of a walk is it?  Should we move it to Bugambilias Gazebo?

  10. we had gazebo or beach options ...  took a little bit for my fiance and I to decide.  I always wanted a beach wedding.   But overall we decided to have our ceremony at one of the gazebo's that is located right along the beach.

    our deciding factors were:

getting married in June = hot    (wanted shade for our guests and bridal group)

not having our guests have to take off shoes

protection if it does happen to rain during wedding - then we can still have it outdoors.

we will still have the beach and ocean right there to take pictures before and after.

Plus our cocktail hour will be right along the beach and our reception on a terrace with ocean views

  11. we did.  We don't have quoted locked pricing for airfare.  Only on rooms and shuttle transfers.

We tried to put as much information to help our guests plan their stay.   we included room options, pricing for rooms and transportation.

you can see our wedding website here for some ideas:

  12. I also used groupon for Vistaprint.  The only thing is when you use a groupon it is used on full price for items on vistaprint and not shipping.

Then few weeks later I got an email from vistaprint for other discounts.    I was able to get an additional tote bag for $4 with shipping.

I've done a bunch of my items through them and they all came out great!

    - "will you be my bridesmaid" cards,  maraca tags,  door hangers,  money/tip room key tags,  save the dates and bridal party tote bags.

  14. If your over the count then you have to have a private event.

Then they charge per person (all, not just over the 30)

    Prices per person;

    $25 for cocktail hour

    $55 for private event dinner/per

If you want to extend the reception it's $60 per table

    (Table seats 8)

If you have the cocktail or reception on a beach or rooftop terrace there is a extra charge of

    $6/ per person for cocktail

    $12/ per person for reception

For extra chairs at wedding ceremony:

    30 included

Over that $6 each extra one needed

We are having between 40-67 guests

So we are nervous about the cost too

Right now with our wedding party only we will qualify for free cocktail hour. We are hoping to at least get up to the reception free. If we make that, but not unlimited events then we will only do reception and add an hour or two.

For photographer and videographer we are using two of our friends who have their own company. They are guests and will be staying 3-4 nights so we don't have to pay the outside vendor fees

  15. Our colors are coral & light aqua/Tiffany blue. Starfish theme.

    So far I have made:
