  1. 90 USD to either town, Playa del Carmen or Cancun. The resort keeps taxis on standby
  2. I took my daughter, and she was 18 months at the time. We never had a problem with sun. If you want a spot on the pool, you should get there early or you won't get a chair. They have a little, shallow pool for the toddlers and babies, but it's fully in the sun all the time. I had a small umbrella stroller, but my daughter refused to actually use it and she just walked everywhere. We took Her some sunblock a hat and sunglasses and she was fine the whole time. Castaways will be fine for 40 people. You should be able to fit all the tables in one area and a dj and dance in a second areas. But even if not, it's only separated by small, short railings that should not be too noticeable when decorated. I had my flowers somewhat customized because of my colors. It was only 50 extra dollars. If you send a picture of what you like, she'll give you a price quote. They do have small, covered areas at the family pool, but I think they have to be reserved through the concierge. As far as Mexican style decorations. I'm not sure where you could find those. A cab ride from the resort to either cancun or playa del carmen is 90 USD. We packed all our own decorations. But I left them all there because I was too lazy to pack it all back up in my suitcase.
  3. We used them for the trash the dress. They were decent...not real original. I know some other girls have had better experiences though.
  4. I was so stressed before I got there. Packing was totally overwhelming for me. And my husband finally was able to snap me out of it right before we left...by the time we got there, I just wanted to enjoy my self. The resort took care of everything perfectly!
  5. That is true Natata. I especially wanted that because we took our daughter and she is only 2. The whole experience was awesome!
  6. No, it's not worth it. Especially if no one else is upgrading, because the preferred side is across the resort. We were upgraded, but none of our guests upgraded, so we were clear across the resort from everyone else. There was ALOT of walking back and forth. But you can access the adult pool and everthing without being on the preferred side. The preferred rooms are slightly larger and the jacuzzi is on the balcony. And you have access to the lounge, but we preferred the atmosphere in other bars so we never used it, even after our guests went home.
  7. They will up upcharge if you use different flowers. I had to pay an extra 50 for purple flowers.
  8. It only matters if you get red lighted at customs and they go through your bags. But yes, 300 in gifts. I took all of my receipts for what I purchased down with me and separated gifts from wedding decor. We were lucky and didn't get searched once. And you can take over 300 in gifts, but they charge you tax on it.
  9. It's not easy to get alot and the fee is high. You can get some, but if you need thousands, you won't be able to get that. I traveled with the cash Plus, your bank will limit the amount of cash you can withdrawal at a time
  10. We didn't pay for an extra bar either. We had our reception at the pool though so there was a bar right there...
  11. We had our reception pool side, no bugs, couldn't even hear the beach...but I also don't know where they would put a dance floor. It would be very broken up I imagine... Castaways is a large space, but it's somewhat divided by half wall barrier, so it might feel intimate once it's all set up... We had 20 ppl. And they lit the pool area nicely...it was difficult for pictures though outside in the dark.
  12. I agree. I was completely stressed the week before the wedding, and then my husband told me to stop worrying about things I couldn't control. I calmed down, I gave Carmen all my decorations I brought and showed her a few pictures. Everything was PERFECT... No need to stress. They do weddings daily.
  13. I handed mine in like 3 days late, and still before you actually have your wedding they ask if you want to change anything.
  14. Yah apparently they had sent me an email at one point that said 150. So they counted that.
  15. I had to pay the 150 vendor fee for my photographers. I tried for the 65, but they refused. Even though everything said 65. It wasn't worth the fight to me and I just wanted to be done with it so I paid it.
  16. We got married on November 21. We did similar to @@SherriJK. I took chair sashes, fans, and flowers for the ceremony. Dark Purple and a minty/sage green. We had about 17 people. My mother in law brought little tea lights and napkins for the cocktail hour. I brought down some vases and table runners that I got super cheap here in the states. So cheap I actually gave it all to Carmen rather than pack it. My table was beautiful and was very inexpensive for me. We did out ceremony at the pergola, cocktails at the mix, and reception at the pool. Apparently the pool is a really unpopular choice, but it was beautiful and I wouldn't change a thing. I'll post picks when I get them back. Moments that Matter did my photographs and we're awesome to work with... The food was wonderful. People raved about it the rest of the weekend. my hair and make up were awesome. Angela did it at the resort and I could not have been more pleased...I also used extensions and she used them perfectly. Here is one of my hair and makeup. I asked my guests not to take pictures of my ceremony so I wouldn't end up with a bunch of photos of other ppl taking photos. Here you can see my bouquet and the linens I brought as well as the vases and water beads to fill them. I realize they're crappy cell phone pictures, but it's all I have right now. Pictures weren't on my mind!
  17. Hey ladies! Everyone is sooooo right. These people know what they're doing. The wedding was perfect. Carmen made it look exactly like i pictured. We had a pergola ceremony and a poolside reception. 50/50 chance of rain. Carmen asked me if I wanted to move it inside, I said yes if she thought we needed too. But then she came back while we were at the cocktail and said her staff said it wasn't going to rain and we were going to risk it. And it didn't rain! We got about 2 minutes of sprinkles and that was all...I don't have pictures at this time of any of our set up. I'm not sure if anyone even has any or if I'll need to wait got my photographer. (Who was moments that matter by the way, and was really great to work with.) We had our trash the dress today with the resort photographer. We don't come home until Wednesday It's been amazing!
