  1. lol that's the silliest explanation about no toilet seats I ever heard . I have a few gross experience stories from my travels as well. The ones where no matter how much you wash your hands or whatever it is you still feel disgusting haha. I guess we'll see where we end up for Vegas! I know that it is on the strip but not sure where. As long as it's not a hotel with no toilet seat covers, we're good .
  2. @@acw271011 I would say they're true to size and the heel is quite comfortable. I'll go measure it in a bit haha. They're very similar to my salsa shoes in height. I was just telling my mom that I used to wear a size 6 in high school but now when it comes to heels i'm a 5 1/5 or 5. So either sizes have changed, my foot has shrunk or I was totally wearing the wrong size haha. My choice #1 will be to let the top part of the dress out a bit, and if that is a no go then I'll change it to the corset. I do love the corset back but I love the closing of this dress as it is. I agree that with the corset I wouldn't have to worry as much about the dress fitting. @@calgarybride2015 I ended up booking where I bought the dress. She gave me a rough quote of $350 for everything which isn't so bad and since she sold me the dress and is the one who suggested that she could do the corset I go there. I don't want any surprises and tears by going to someone else and them telling me that it can't be done. I'm going to go try these shoes again and hopefully make a decision. I really can't keep them both because with that money I could buy my undergarments and something else. Talking about undergarments. I have a bit of an issue with the top of my dress. I have a pretty small chest and the top fits fine but when I lift my arms I feel like i'm going to flash everyone haha (if I arch my back enough I actually do flash everyone lol). The seamstress said I don't need a bra and we'll just put some inserts on the inside of the dress. I'm not sure this will even fix the problem haha. I had inserts for my grad dress and I didn't really like them. They didn't push anything up and they had a life of their own. In other words they looked totally fake. I was thinking of getting one of those stick on strapless bras just to be safe haha. Has anyone tried that?
  3. I love the scents from bath and bodyworks but I love the products from the body shop more haha
  4. right!? My mind was totally made up with the champagne ones, but once I tried the dress on with the pink ones I was like Oh man, I don't know anymore! Juan tells me to keep both lol. I'll try an lose a couple of pounds before the wedding. I have been doing some weights so my back looks more muscular than it did in that picture, so maybe that's what it is, and the extra 3lbs might be water retention from the lovely time of the month, who knows. I'll still probably ask if they can take it out a bit. Sure it'd be nice not having to spend on that but at the same time like you said, it's nice to have that piece of mind and not have to worry about it closing the day of. We'll see how it fits in a month when I head over for alterations
  5. I love the bags for the bridesmaids!! It's so cute how the coverup matches the bags . I think they'll love their gifts and have a laugh with the cards haha.
  6. Update on the Dress I tried on my dress yesterday (once again. I think I've tried this thing on like 10 times already haha). I wanted to see it with the shoes before making my final decision on them. The good news: The dress now closes all the way up. I thought this would be impossible! As you can see on this picture it still had some way to go: Now, it doesn't close totally effortlessly. I have to push my shoulder blades together, but it isn't so tight anymore that I can't breathe. I didn't really want to change the back of it to a corset but I didn't see another way for it to close. Now the dilemma is whether I risk it and leave it like this, even though when I go down to Mexico with the humidity, heat and all the food chances are I'll get a bit bloated, or play it safe and change the back. I guess the seamstress will have the final say next month, whether she thinks it's too tight or not or whether instead of putting a corset she can just let it out a tiny little bit. I then weighted myself to see if I had lost weight, but I've actually gained 3lbs. I'm so confused hahah . I was also super bloated yesterday because of the time of the month munchies (sorry if TMI). I really have no idea what's going on. The hips still need alterations. I really do not have hope for that to fit haha. The dress is really straight from the waist to the hips and my ratio is always big, even when I lose weight. Now to the shoes: Just when I thought I had made one decision with ease, guess what!? Not that easy. I tried both shoes on and I love them both!! Agh! Neither my mom or 2 MOHs can decide either haha. Sometimes I'm like "the champagne ones, they look really classy" then other times I say "the pink ones, they go with our wedding colors, Juan's tie and my bouquet". Welcome Brochure My Argentina MOH is done helping me out with these, and aside from some minor changes that might come up, this is what they look like. They'll go inside the OOT bags. For some reason the colors looks super neon on these pictures but they're normal when printed and they don't hurt your eyes haha. This would be the outside This is the inside of the brochure
  7. we're leaving on December 26, so technically it is this year haha, but since we're taking about 3 weeks to go they probably won't give us any more vacation at work. So other than a couple of days here or there we won't do anything crazy. I'm totally a planner and I love to plan the whole itinerary, etc. but once in a while I like to wing it hahah. We just thought it would be super exciting to do that . I don't even know what hotel we're going to because I didn't plan this trip. One of my friends' parents has a time share there so we paid $140 each for the whole week and from what they told me it's a very nice hotel, so that's all I need to know . There's 8 of us I'm so stocked! I had looked at the flamenco once when we were planning to go with Juan for a few days If you go to Vietnam, is there any way you can rent an apartment or anything like that? It might be totally different there, but when my mom went to Europe with her friend, they rented an apartment in Amsterdam and in Paris and then just kind of traveled around. It's still cheaper than a hotel, but not quite a hostel . Bathrooms overseas can be very strange and kind of awkward haha. I've only seen the holes once. When I was a kid we used to go to this huge park that had a public swimming pool and the washrooms were basically these holes with two things on the side for you to step on haha. It was scary when I was little but now that I think about it, I guess it's better than "sitting" on public toilet seats, or I should say, hovering over public toilet seats hahah. For me the deal breaker is usually the shared showers ahaha.
  8. Yeah exactly. If I knew that they weren't going to charge ridiculous prices I would leave stuff over there. I don't know what we're doing for honeymoon yet. We're going to Argentina next year for 2-3 weeks so if we go anywhere in the next year it will also be a short trip probably somewhere in the states. theres so many places we want to go that we actually said that we should take the time off work and then book something last minute wherever we get a good deal hahah. Go wherever destiny takes you I guess haha. I just think that would be a lot of fun. I think Vegas would be super nice! I'm going now in June but have never been so I kind of want to see if it's up there with my expectations haha. It's definitely a different trip with friends than with your husband of course. I'm all about AIs but I also enjoy going to places where you have to go around and see different things. I would probably choose Vietnam because it is exotic and it will be a trip that you guys will never forget! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm bringing stuff back because I'll use some of it for my reception in Argentina but after that I'll probably leave a lot in Argentina. My aunt has a store where she sells all kinds of home decor so I'm sure she can find a use for this stuff . I wouldn't leave anything at the resort we're going. Judging by their prices they'll try to make hundreds on stuff I left for free. No way haha.
  10. you should totally open a store! I loved your STDs and I'm sure a lot of people would buy them!
  11. yeah, they become my cleaning clothes. That's why I rarely donate clothes, by the time i'm done with them they're only good for rags hahah.
  12. My fiance makes fun of me because I literally wear things until they have holes on them hahah.
  13. We're planning on doing a DIY photobooth but other than that just playing music all night. Maybe we'll do a scavenger hunt for pictures but I don't know if that will carry on during the reception. Maybe. I like the idea of games but my group loves to dance so much that I think they'd actually be somewhat annoyed if I kept interrupting the party for games haha. However, if there can be games set up aside and people just come and go it would be fun!
  14. yeah my weight hasn't changed in about 8years. I still have stuff that I've had from high school that I wear occasionally . I just didn't want to tempt fate I guess haha. My dress is still a bit too small but the lady at the salon reassured me that everything could be fixed and it was the last one they had because it was discontinued, so it was either that or nothing!
  15. I have to say, I'm interested in this "packed to travel" process for the dress. Was it wrinkled when you got there? I don't think my bridal salon has that option but that's pretty cool. I don't think I'd trust anyone else but a bridal salon to do that haha. Wow, it seemed like your resort really had it together in terms of group check ins. I always read on other people's reviews how the check in can be a bit of a nightmare with so many people but this actually sounded like fun haha. I think your hair turned out perfectly. I also initially loved my hair down but then decided that Mexico in August and hair down just don't mix so I'm going with an updo . Yours turned out great, your friend did a great job. Your makeup also looks super professional, good job . I totally understand that feeling, if it was my friend doing my hair I'd trust her 100% because she knows me and would know exactly what I like . Can't wait to read the rest of it!
  16. I could barely wait to get my dress! but since we had a really long engagement I didn't want to buy anything right away. I was afraid my weight would change or I would change my mind if styles changed over two years. I bought it as soon as we had a date though hahah.
  17. Hey! I had the same dilemma a few weeks ago. I think your ceremony is right, I wouldn't change it to 5 because you'll run out of time pretty quickly. Our photographer said 1.5 hours before sunset is the best time for pictures, so if your sunset is at 6, the best time for pictures is 4:30. The ceremony usually takes about 15 minutes to half an hour. We're going with the shorter timeframe because we're not doing a sand ceremony or anything like that, so we don't want it to drag out for too long with speeches and things. So, let's say it takes 20 min for the ceremony, that takes you to 4:20, then you can take pictures with a few family members and guests until 4:30 and then go to take your couples pictures. You can always keep taking group photos when you come back, before dinner is served , if you missed anybody because you didn't have time. A bride on here suggested that you have a list of guests that you must take a picture with, and have someone move things along by going through the list. For the reception, I'd do 1.5 hours to 2 of pictures and then have the reception. That would take you to 6-6:30. If you decide to go with 6:30, that would give you enough time to take sunset pictures and everything . As for your guests, we're leaving it up to them. We will probably have an MC suggest a bar they can head to in between, but some people might want to go to their rooms and freshen up. Some like to change to something a little more evening appropriate. I'm sure they can find something to do . The sun will be setting so even sitting by the beach as the sun comes down with a drink in hand sounds like a pretty sweet idea haha (that's probably what I'd do ) Here's the link to the tips that our photographer has for the timeline suggestions. He has it divided by months too: http://www.octaviomontes.com/tips.html
  18. Ohh it looks so nice . It's getting so close now. I just looked at my counter today and saw 3 months and 3 weeks. The "3 months" freaked me out a little bit haha. @@Meandhim My wedding band is also the first thing I bought so I've had it for a while. Can't wait to wear it
  19. Thanks ladies! I think I'll keep the champagne. I do like them better, you're all right, they're more versatile, and they're less trouble because if I wanted the pink ones I'd have to return these and get them exchanged for a smaller size on the pink ones. I do have a lot of pink in my wardrobe so wearing them again wouldn't be an issue but I just like the sparkle on the champagne ones @@calgarybride2015 oh yay!! Did you guy buy here? Welcome to the neighbourhood! We're actually not moving until august or september haha. They just broke ground this week (apparently they had some issues with the building permits). Which is fine I guess, it saves us a bit of money during the summer to put towards buying some furniture. @@Wafflesmom I'll look into the petals. I mean, they're comfortable but after wearing heels yesterday all day to work and then to the mall they did hurt a bit when I tried these on. Also, my right foot is smaller and the shoe is not as stable on that side, so maybe the petals will help. My only criticism of these shoes is that I wish they made the strap size accordingly to the size of the shoe (this is what holds the shoe to your foot, there's no zippers or anything like that, just that bow). I have to pull mine all the way and on my right foot it's still a bit too loose. Let me tell you, I don't have dainty ankles either haha, they're pretty thick, so maybe for girls with skinny ankles the strap might be too big. Maybe I can write a review on them and add that so they may fix it because otherwise these might be my new favourite shoes!
  20. I've been so MIA this past week. I've been so busy that I haven't even really been on the computer much. Just a quick update before I have to run again: the shoes are here!! The pink ones are too big as I had predicted but I really don't know what color is prettier. They have the pink ones in my size now so it'd just be a matter of exchanging them. They are truly gorgeous and Soo comfortable. I don't even think I need to break them in all that much. The sole is leather, so dancing approved haha but holy! that thing is slippery on carpet lol. The bottom is cushioned so it doesn't feel like you're walking on blocks of wood and they are pretty flexible so, super comfy. I might like the champagne ones better, how they look on me, but I really don't know. I attached some pictures: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. My fiance is Colombian so his mom and one of his sisters are coming from over there
  22. Yeah I agree, a lot of them do charge that fee. It's silly really but anything that is not the standard white that they provide usually costs extra. I would maybe try and find something on eBay if you are ok bringing everything down. Maybe ask a rental company here in Calgary if they'll give you a deal because you have to take these things for a week. I think the easiest thing to bring down will be things like a table runner, rather than the whole table cloth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. We also booked some land only spots for some guests from Argentina and Colombia. Our Canadian TA did it all but in terms of flights they might find something cheaper through a US TA Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I'm having a symbolic ceremony as well. When I factored in the money to get married in Mexico legally it was just cheaper to do it at home. That's without counting the time you have to waste out of your vacation getting all the paperwork done and the blood tests. It's just more money and more of a hassle If you decide to get legally married in mexico, a word of advice, make sure you get married with joint goods. Over there you have a choice and can specify of you're joining your goods or keeping them separate. Of course none of us is thinking well get divorced, but if it happens you don't want a loophole screwing you or your future hubby over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Apparently people sell their wedding stuff, from decor to the dresses. I pretty much have everything I can haul already so I better not go haha but if you're in the early stages it's probably fun and useful! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
