  1. Thanks. I think I am set for now. Just specific questions related to our event.
  2. We don;t have our music picked out either. I am knee deep in tons of DIY projects. And I agree on not dwelling on OOTs. Someway, somehow, it will all work out. Well, that is what I keep telling myself.
  3. We set our RSVP date of March 15 and did 2 weeks of follow-ups and still had people NOT RSVP. I find that just terribly rude. I figure if they show up, they show up. We are all adults and if they can't commit, one way or the other, then it is on them. I too waited until I had a final heacount to order things for the OOT bags and start working on them. I don't want to spend more than I have to, or have excess stuff laying around. I am doing a few extras just in case though. If we have more peeps than the few extras I am making, they are out of luck. Sounds tough I know, but.....
  4. I think whatever makes you happy and you feel good wearing is the way to go.
  5. I think I have overwhelemed Alejandra with all my questions, lol. I haven't heard back from her yet. How long does she take to respond to e-mails?
  6. Plus, we are only doing a weekend (Thursday - Sunday) versus a week like most of you. We do have other things for the OOT bags, travel tumblers for hot and cold beverages, mexican rubber duckies (the Lufthansa First Class Terminal is one of my favorite places and they give out rubber duckies and are kind of like a trophy. Quite a few guests have been there, hence the rubber duckies, lol) and the "just in case kits". I said survival kit to my Fi and he looked at me like I had 2 heads. So we are calling them just in case kits. We are debating when to hand out the maracas. We thought about before the ceremony, but then people may forget to bring them to dinner. So we may just have them placed on top of the menu cards at each place setting. We are also not doing a full blown reception, just dinner and perhaps the disco later or going into PDC.
  7. Hiya. As of now, survival kit contents, subject to change of course. I am only buying packets of the meds, not a big container and then separating out. I think my guests would be like "huh?" and I don't want issues traveling into Mexico. So where pre-packaged is what we are doing. So far, I have picked up tissues (8 pack for $1), hand sanitizer (3 pack for $1) and gum (4 packs for $1) at Dollar Tree. I picked up the mini Altoid tins at Costco last night (12 for $8.99). I am doing custom labels for the hand sanitizers and am on the fence about the lip balm. Instead of doing first aid kits, we are doing packets of ointment with some bandaids in the bag. Most of the people attending are experienced travels like we are, so they are pretty much just as prepared as we are. Advil Packets Gum Gatoraid Packets (Propel Packets) Tums Alka Seltzer Packets Pepto Packets Altoids Mini Tins Shout Wipes Off Wipes Hand Sanitizer Lip Balm Aloe Tissues Curad Zinc Antibiotic Bandaids
  8. Something old: engagement ring (was Fi's grandma's) Something new: wedding dress Something borrowed: my best friends jewelery Something blue: need to sort this one out
  9. We are paying for the dresses for the girls, along with shoes, etc. I am not paying for hair or make-up. I figured because we are asking them to travel, I will pay for the dresses. Though I have always paid for my own dresses, hair etc in the past. I was in 4 weddings within 4 months of each other a few years ago and I about went broke being in the weddings.
  10. I have made some progress since my mini-freak out. Fi is all set with his clothes (he ordered and received his khaki slacks and shirt) I have ordered my dress and should have it around April 20 I ordered dresses for our best peeps (3 are female, now need to sort out what the best guy peep is wearing) I ordered my maracas I finally touched base with the resort regarding the small details I the cake topper and cake table decorations (we are huge travel junkies along with a lot of our guests, so we found play airplane sets that we are going to decorate the cake table with and friends of ours found mini Lufthansa planes for the topper. I figure since he proposed on a Lufthansa flight, that would be perfect) Found a small suitcase we are using for the card box Ordered cake boxes Started on the wording for the ceremony programs, menu cards, welcome letters, etc (need to finalize so I can use my VP coupon) Ordered the travel tumblers for the OOT bags, created the template I am using and have printed them. Found the actual OOT bags - we were going to order totes but found perfect pink and orange gift bags instead (love the dollar store) Started buying the contents for the survival kits I still have lots more to do on my list, but it is a good start.
  11. Wow - that sounds very similar to me. We have 60 guests attending, a good chuck are friends of both of us, however, I only have my parents, my 2 best peeps (and their spouses) who are just on my side attending. Quite a few who never even bothered to RSVP. I am not focusing on that though. I am focusing on the 60 people are traveling to attend our wedding. 12. I would like to know these answers too. I just sent Alejandra a loooong e-mail with lots of follow-up questions and more questions.
  13. It's a great resort and I love the staff there. One of my best trips to playa (and there have been lots of them).
  14. Since Jessica had our date reserved at the Tucan, we almost went with the GPR. I love that resort too.
  15. Thank you so much, Jessica. I am a little teary eyed. I appreciate it. I am spending tonight getting my head wrapped around everything and have lists galore surrounding me.
  16. I think I am in trouble. I haven't spoken to the resort since we signed the contract back in December. Guess I know what I am working on now . Wedding plans
  17. We are getting married at the Iberostar Tucan. We arrive into CUN around 10:00 am on June 12. How about you?
  18. I have a notebook now too. I was brain dumping on the 15 hour flight from New Zealand. I can't believe it is so close!!!
  19. I think I am starting to officially freak out. I am no where near as prepared as you ladies. The wedding is June 14 and nothing is done or started. I don't even have headcounts yet, as we keep chasing peeps. I need to order my dress, the girls dresses, start on the programs, OOT bags, menus, etc. I am so overwhelmed. Why did I think I could pull this off? We got engaged in November, moved across country in February, spent time out of the country and still have crazy busy jobs. Ugh.
  20. Great ideas! I am starting to panic a little. Wedding is June 14 and I have done NO planning. We moved cross country, started new jobs, went out of the country. Holy cow, hard to believe how much needs to get done. If anyone can send templates, that would be appreciated. christy at catjomas.com
  21. We have a few people who want to stay at a different place. We told them that they were responsible for obtaining their own day pass for the wedding.
  22. I have on my list to work on a timeline for weekend. This is what we were thinking high level. Thursday - Guests are arriving, so probably a meet and greet in one of the bars at the resort after dinner so we can pass out welcome bags Friday - Open all day, wedding at 5:00 Saturday - Open and hang with guests Sunday - travel home We are not doing a wedding week, just a weekend and we fly home Sunday too.
  23. I love the dress. I am even thinking about ordering one in black for me. Super versatile. My girls picked out the dress, so as long as they love it, I do too.
  24. I am interested. Is this for all Iberostars or a specific property? I am getting married at the Tucan in June 2013.
  25. These will be what our best peeps are wearing as well, the short version. We don't have bridesmaids, MOH, Best Man, Groomsmen, etc. We have 4 of our best friends standing up for us and no one is above the other. We have 2 best peeps each and one of my Fi's peeps is female. I asked her if she wanted to wear the same dress as my girls in a different color and she loved that idea. Originally, we were going to go with Fuschia for my girls and Cantelope for Fi's best peep, however, once they all saw the fabric samples, they all picked Fuschia. I am pretty low key with the color of the dress, I gave them the option of one or the other. We have the orange and fuschia theme peppered throughout, so it works out well.
