Regarding the tan suits, you can rent from Jos A Banks. I believe it's called the Al Fresco, if I remember correctly. If you want light gray, you can rent from Mens Warehouse or Jos A Banks. Smaller tux shops may have tan suits as well.
Regarding the Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner, they are not letting us have it at an a la carte restaurant. They have offered that we can have it at the buffet or pay an additional fee per person for the Beach BBQ, but they will not allow it in one of the sit-down establishments. I was extremely disappointed by this. I refuse to pay one more penny to this resort for the Beach BBQ (and I do not have another $1500 in my budget at this point), so I guess I am stuck with the buffet, which was not my vision at all. -
How much are fireworks? I did not know they were an option!

Your pics are GORGEOUS! What decor did you bring with you?

Let me know what you ladies figure out on tipping!

We sent out an email telling everyone about our plans about 9 months before the wedding, then we sent our STDs about 7 months before the wedding, We sent out our invitations 3 months before the wedding, with rsvps due 2 months before the wedding... The rsvp cards have been coming in every day-- so exciting!

How many hours of open bar are you planning on doing? And which option are you going with?
i was thinking of doing the cocktail open bar and the dinner open bar (running a tab through each in case someone wanted something else) and then doing a 3 hrs of either the local option or the middle option.....

You are right and I don't mean to be negative!!!

Thanks for your reply and letting me know about your first-hand experience at the resort. I am sure it will be great in the end, but I don't need this drama right now, LOL

Hi Ladies,
I am so frustrated and I am hoping you could help. I know I keep venting about this stupid welcome dinner here, but I am getting no where on this.
I am having 40-50 guests and when I booked I was verbally told I could have a Welcome Dinner at one of the restaurants for no additional cost. Now, I am being told that none of the restaurants can hold more than TEN PEOPLE at once. This has to be BS. I remember personally speaking to another bride who had her's at Gabi Beach. I know other people have done similar as well. I am open as to which restaurant we book at but I do want everyone TOGETHER.
Do any past brides have any experience with this? Our group is spending well over $50K between all of the guests rooms and accomodations, and there is no way I am splitting up all of my guests for the welcome dinner. We have spoken with the resort directly and they have been no help AT ALL. In fact, they have been trying to upsell us to pay for a two-hour cocktail reception instead, and there is no way I am spending one more penny at this resort.
I am so annoyed right now. I would never have booked this resort if I knew how hard they were going to be to deal with. I know it is supposed to be a beautiful property, and that is why I chose it, but right now I am really regretting my decision.
Anyway, if any past brides have any experience with planning something like this it would be much appreciated!
Thanks

I asked my TA. I will let you know what she says!
-
Thanks! I wonder if we would be able to use it because we are paying a group rate, but I will sign up anyway!
-
Just sent it!

Yes, if you went with one of the packages, you would have 2 appetizer options, and two entree options (with two sides) plus a pasta. There are 5 package options to choose from, but you can also just make a custom menu if you do not like the choices.

When you say a lounge area, do you mean the white couches? I wanted them as well. Do you mind sharing what the cost is?
Thanks!!!!

I am in the NYC area but I have been using Patty from Wright Travel (in CA) and she has been great. We just communicate via phone/email. Lmk if you would like her contact info!
Hi EV, Yes. I know all of the changes are annoying to me. :mad2: Â During our love at first site my fiance and i requested to have DJ mannia and asked what happened to them since we had read all of the amazing reviews. The ladies in the romance department shared that their contract expired and the new entertainment company was aventos which we had never heard of... I am sure it will be fine. As long as you give your dj the song choices that you want it will be fine. I do not think they will charge you for an outside vendor fee since you booked your wedding in 2012. I still have so many questions. my fiance and are in the process of filling out our contract yikes... Does anyone know of a travel agent in the NYC area??? -
Hi there,
Well in my contract it says I get a free Welcome Cocktail party for one hour, and then I wanted to plan a group dinner at one of the restaurants. I am having a hard time securing either of them, and I have sent multiple emails. Someone finally responded and said they could not make a dinner reservation for more than 10 people? Which is crazy..... And they did not answer my questions about the cocktail party either. I just wanted to get the locations of the welcome party settled, but they are not making it easy. This is why I ultimately chose to move my wedding off the resort. I have had a very frustrating experience so far when dealing with PPR.

Hi Ladies,
I am having an issue booking my Welcome Dinner-- we are going to be about 40-45 ppl..... Has anyone else had an issue with this?
-
that's a little upsetting because when I booked my May wedding back in July, I was also given the 2009 pricing, however I was not told that she would honor those prices when I contacted her regarding the increase.
-
For those of you who are doing long tables, are you using table numbers? Or putting the guest's name at each place setting?
-
Punta Bride, I am also having a long table, but I was thinking of sitting in the middle of the table, so we can be central to everyone.... How many ppl are you having?
-
Pretty! I love yellow- such a happy color
-
Did anyone do a dessert bar? If so, what did you have on it? And what was the cost?
-
Once she confirmed my date, I wired her 500 dollars for a deposit. She will send you the bank info.
