  1. Regarding the tan suits, you can rent from Jos A Banks. I believe it's called the Al Fresco, if I remember correctly. If you want light gray, you can rent from Mens Warehouse or Jos A Banks. Smaller tux shops may have tan suits as well.

Regarding the Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner, they are not letting us have it at an a la carte restaurant. They have offered that we can have it at the buffet or pay an additional fee per person for the Beach BBQ, but they will not allow it in one of the sit-down establishments. I was extremely disappointed by this. I refuse to pay one more penny to this resort for the Beach BBQ (and I do not have another $1500 in my budget at this point), so I guess I am stuck with the buffet, which was not my vision at all.

  2. Hi Ladies,

I am so frustrated and I am hoping you could help. I know I keep venting about this stupid welcome dinner here, but I am getting no where on this.

I am having 40-50 guests and when I booked I was verbally told I could have a Welcome Dinner at one of the restaurants for no additional cost. Now, I am being told that none of the restaurants can hold more than TEN PEOPLE at once. This has to be BS. I remember personally speaking to another bride who had her's at Gabi Beach. I know other people have done similar as well. I am open as to which restaurant we book at but I do want everyone TOGETHER.

Do any past brides have any experience with this?  Our group is spending well over $50K between all of the guests rooms and accomodations,  and there is no way I am splitting up all of my guests for the welcome dinner. We have spoken with the resort directly and they have been no help AT ALL. In fact, they have been trying to upsell us to pay for a two-hour cocktail reception instead, and there is no way I am spending one more penny at this resort.

I am so annoyed right now. I would never have booked this resort if I knew how hard they were going to be to deal with. I know it is supposed to be a beautiful property, and that is why I chose it, but right now I am really regretting my decision.

Anyway, if any past brides have any experience with planning something like this it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

  3. I am in the NYC area but I have been using Patty from Wright Travel (in CA) and she has been great. We just communicate via phone/email. Lmk if you would like her contact info!

Hi EV, Yes. I know all of the changes are annoying to me. :mad2:   During our love at first site my fiance and i requested to have DJ mannia and asked what happened to them since we had read all of the amazing reviews. The ladies in the romance department shared that their contract expired and the new entertainment company was aventos which we had never heard of... I am sure it will be fine. As long as you give your dj the song choices that you want it will be fine. I do not think they will charge you for an outside vendor fee since you booked your wedding in 2012. I still have so many questions. my fiance and are in the process of filling out our contract yikes... Does anyone know of a travel agent in the NYC area???
  4. Hi there,

Well in my contract it says I get a free Welcome Cocktail party for one hour, and then I wanted to plan a group dinner at one of the restaurants. I am having a hard time securing either of them, and I have sent multiple emails. Someone finally responded and said they could not make a dinner reservation for more than 10 people? Which is crazy..... And they did not answer my questions about the cocktail party either. I just wanted to get the locations of the welcome party settled, but they are not making it easy. This is why I ultimately chose to move my wedding off the resort. I have had a very frustrating experience so far when dealing with PPR.
