  1. Wanted to share my "Will you be my Maid of Honor" gift.  The bridesmaids will get the same thing.  I purchased the wine cooler bags at Target, ordered the wine labels off Etsy and made the wine glasses myself.  They are "WV" because everyone in my wedding party are big WV fans. I also created a little card with a poem.  I've given my maid of honor hers and she loved it. 700

  2. We plan to get married in US before or after ceremony in Mexico due to costs, requirements, etc. I don't plan to tell anyone b/c I'm afraid they would be upset.  I plan to have my anniversary as the day we get married in Mexico.  I see the US part of it just as doing paperwork.

  4. MY FI and I can't afford a site visit before the wedding, so we're doing all of the planning from here and taking a leap of faith! My feeling is that by the time we arrive there's not going to be a whole lot we can control and I can't sweat the small stuff if something goes wrong. By then I'll just be in vacation mode and enjoying everything. :) I'm reassured because what I've seen and heard of the resort (Secrets St. James) looks great, but it still would be nice to see more info from past brides. Since it's a newish resort there's not a lot out there yet. Just crossing my fingers all goes smoothly and everything is as wonderful as it looks in pictures!
    2nd all of this!
  5. If I recall correctly, I think the Valentin Riviera Maya does only one a day.  However, I don't think they specialize in weddings (at least that it was a TA told me) so just because they do one a day doesn't mean it will go any more smoothly or be more organized if they don't specialize.  I'm getting married at the Royal Playa del carmen. I believe the # of weddings they do a day depends on the sizes of the weddings, locations, etc.

  6. Basically I'm sending a save the date b/c several people going need to request off work very far in advance and start saving $ now so the STD just lets them know the date so they can start planning and saving. I also have our website on the STD so they can check that our frequently. That is where I post any and all new info I get regarding rates, travel etc.

  7. I'm using a travel agent for our destination wedding. So far there are no cons to using her. There is no out of pocket cost to us to use her, she earns commission off those who book through her.  My main reason for using her is because she works directly with the wedding coordinator at the resort and saves me a lot of time trying to contact them, get answers about things etc.  The other reason is because some family that will be going is older and not good with internet, etc so they can call her and she can handle all their booking needs. With that said, my guests still have the option to book on their own through another search engine if they choose.

  8. I'm getting married June 24 2013 at Royal Playa del Carmen. I'm very excited!!! I've talked with travel agent and just received my save the dates. I plan to send them out next week. That's as far as I've gotten!
