Hi Ladies!
I'm getting married June 24, 2013 at the Royal Playa del Carmen. Since it's starting to get closer I thought I better start a planning thread to keep all my planning organized and in one place. I have found BDW to be so helpful with my planning and am so grateful to all the other brides on here who share their ideas, templates, pictures, etc. I don't know how I'd get through this without you all!
My fiance and I got engaged June 24, 2012 while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. We actually first got together a few years ago in while vacationing with mutual friends in Mexico and so we decided what better place to tie the know than where we first got together. In case you didn't notice, we are also getting married on the same day we got engaged. We figured the less dates to try to remember the better, ha. Here is a picture of the bling.
The first thing I did was choose who I wanted to be in the wedding and tried to come up with a thoughtful way to ask them. Since it was summer, I purchased wine totes from target and got them each a bottle of wine that they like. I ordered customized wine bottle lables from Etsy ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/iDoArtsyWeddings) asking them to be my bridesmaid/maid of honor. I then made each of them a customized WV wine glass because they are all big WV fans. I purchased the glasses at the Dollar Store and the paint at Michael's. They turned out great I thought. Then I made a card for each of them and gave them each their gift. They all loved them!
Next up were the save the dates. I did a boarding ticket type save the date that I purchsed on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/alisamariedesigns). I then bought raffia at Michael's and ordered silver starfish off Ebay to tie on to the front to add a little pop.
More to come...

I used lowercase white letters for girls' mugs and uppercase black letters for the boys' mugs. the vinyl letters stick on and are weatherproof, but you can remove them with a hair dryer.
please let me know if you have any questions!
What font did you use for the initials? They look great!!!

Here's a review I found online:
http://www.diybride.com/blog/2010/11/24/diy-dj-review-of-my-wedding-dj-app/

It's called "My Wedding DJ" app. The icon looks like a wedding ring with a music note in the middle of it. I forget what I paid, but it was minimal-- under $5 I know.

I'm going with my iPhone at the reception. We are having a DJ at our at home reception. My fiance has a BOSE wireless bluetooth speaker that we are taking. I've been loading my songs onto an app i downloaded (Wedding DJ). I really like it so far b/c it lets you designate songs for pre-ceremony, procession, recession, cocktail hr, dinner, cake cutting first dance etc. It will even take requests and fades for pauses/skips etc.

This is my plan as well. I'm hoping the judge will provide witnesses.

I agree with the others, we are considering it purely a paperwork trail and will not be exchanging rings, dressing up, having guests etc. We were going to do it legally in Mexico but my fiance sort of freaked at the idea of them taking blood. Plus you have to be there so many days before, have the documents translated, etc etc. Just too much of a hassle and cost so we will go do the "paperwork" right before we depart.

I PMd you this morning as well. I think it went through, but just in case not I'm interested in the following

100 Clear ID holders - no bracelet attached $8/25 holders ( just 1 pack)
6 Wet Bikini Bags - awesome bridesmaids gifts! $12 each or $60 for all
75 single dose Advil packets (200mg/caplet, 2 caplets/packet) - expires 6/2013 $25 for all (I'm interested in 35 of these)
97 single dose Extra Strength Tylenol packets (500mg/caplet, 2 caplets/packet) expires 09/2014 $40 for all (I'm interested in 35 of these)

I just went through this exact thing and I had the same instinct and the person finally told me she wasn't going to be going. I'm not exactly sure of her reason but I just had a hunch for a long time and finally I asked her and she told me. She too just got married in May and I was in her wedding and was very on top of things and involved so I am too hurt that my wedding doesn't seem like a big deal to her. I have other friends who I didn't think would be able to make it because of cost, children etc but they are making it work. I have a friend who is due with her fourth baby April 1 and they have booked their trip. They are only staying 3 nights but that is completely fine with us, we are just excited they are coming at all as we didn't expect them too. So I would say if she wanted to be there, she would be and that 3 months is plenty. My advice would be to just straight up ask her and tell her you need to know, that's what I did. I wasn't happy with the answer, but at least I now know and can move forward with planning.

I did not include the menu option on mine. I sent ours out the end of Jan with an rsvp of march 31. Our wedding is June 24th. I wanted to see how many people were going to attend b/c if not a lot I was just going to do the semi-private reception. Since we have a good size group that has booked so far we will do a menu and I will probably send something out once it gets closer to get menu choices. I'll probably just do an email asking guests to make a selection and call those that don't respond. I don't see a need to send out something in the mail.

My mom is in her early 60s and petite and I am having a hard time finding ideas for a dress for our beach wedding. Please share what your mom will be wearing or where she found her dress!

Where are you getting the donkey from??

I haven't gotten very far with music yet as we have just started listening to songs and trying to pick things out but my fiance did pick out the song for the recessional-- it's "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen. I can't believe he picked that but now that I've listened to it I think it will be fun!

Very nice! I agree about no spending on useless items. Where did you get your room key holders?

Yeah I did that with no luck. I did change my email to a different email and it seems to be working now--weird!
Planning thread for Royal Playa del Carmen Wedding June 2013!

The resort--
My fiance wanted an adults-only resort so that narrowed our options down a good bit. After reading tons of reviews on here, TripAdvisor and talking with travel agents, we decided on the Royal Playa del Carmen. We thought the location would be perfect since guests will be able to walk to 5th Ave and take the ferry to Cozumel if they want to get away without having to worry about transportation. We decided to use the oceanfront gazebo as our ceremony location. Our cocktail hour and reception will be held in the same area.
I sent our invitations out sometime in January with an RSVP deadline of March 31st. We still have a lot that have not sent in their RSVP but I assume these folks aren't going. We should have around 30-35 guests total (including ourselves). I chose the invitations based on the recommendation of another bride (JordanB) and really liked them because they were simple and very reasonable I thought. They were purchased from Etsy as well (http://www.etsy.com/shop/imaginationpad). Here is an example (mine were more aqual and coral).
