  1. I had a phone call from Hayes & Jarvis (Thomson specialist) and they told me that now...all we need to take is birth certificates... No translation before we go or legalisation. Just turn up with your birth certificates by the sounds of it. Apparently it just meas that our parents names won't be on marriage certificates. So I just wasted £70 legalising our b.certs. Gggggrrrrr xx
  2. Hey Donna, I actually got an email from Hayes & Jarvis saying to get them translated b4 we go! The palace resorts website reflects what your saying so I'm not gonna bother doing it here. There's quite a few Donna smiths on FB lol if u add me...or what's your profile pic? Ill try find u again lol x
  3. For UK BRIDES only as our legalisation/requirements are so different to the US/Canada etc.
  4. I was contacted by Hayes & Jarvis and they've now said that the Moon Palace require you to legalise & translate the birth certificates before we go now...totally changed from when I booked last year...think costs have gone up in resort too! That's y I was thinking of legally getting married here first (under the radar) on the Friday (we leave on the Monday) and having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico (no blood tests either this way) and you can make your own vows etc but my FI doesn't want to...boo hoo x

  6. How do I know if I have the full birth certificate? I think it is, it has my parents on it etc. But they are extracts only not the originals. Did you all have to get them translated before you go too? Cheers, Charlene x

  8. Hey Ladies, Were getting married in September 2013 and have been reading through a lot of posts. I'm from the UK and have read A LOT of american & canadian brides are actually legally getting married before they arrive in Mexico. I am now considering doing this as the costs and process for getting our birth certificates legalised and translated are quite a lot - its only a total of £125 to do it all in the UK before we go...we'd maybe do it a few days before we go. We don't wanna tell guests really either. Whats you're thoughts? Also, in the symbolic wedding, are there any admin costs?? Also, we wont need to do the blood tests either. One more question - can you therefore make up your own vows? Cheers, Charlene x x

  11. Hey, I just read your post about the rooms in the grand section that have pool access. Do u remember if they have private pools or is it communal access from a few rooms to one pool? I emailed my wedding co like a week ago and she said there wasn't any but I knew I had seen it somewhere! Would you defo recommend the grand section? Do you know if the grand section has any sea view rooms? Also, what were the timings of your day? Ill prob have 100 questions for you lol I get married in September! Eeeek!!! X
  12. Hey, I'm travelling from the UK too @ the end of September 2013. In the cocktail hour I believe you just get hors d'oeurves (excuse spelling lol) After the wedding ceremony your would have the cocktail hour (free if you have group benefits). Then for the reception you only get the buffet options if you have your reception in a private location. (Not A la Carte) You will only get 1hr cocktail & 2hr dinner free. If you want dinner plated I think it's $35pp extra Not sure about the additional above the 30 guests we only have 20 at the moment. We're going from Scotland too Charlene x
  13. How much are people payin for their photos? Is PSAV cheaper/better than the Ocean Studio ones? Charlene x

  18. Hey, No, no contact with the Hotel so far other than an email stating that the planning process will start 9 months before we arrive...so if its september they'll prob contact you in the new year. I wouldn't worry about it too much though. Some people -believe it or not- arrive in mexico and arrange everything when they get their. I work for Thomson in the UK and have booked with Hayes and Jarvis (Flying with Thomson from Glasgow on 23rd Sept 13) All I know is that I'm getting married on 27th (Friday) Im not too fussed about arranging too much before I go - Ive chosen the Complimentry Wedding and will be adding on Horse & Carriage and Photography but thats about it as the whole point of us going abroad is to keep costs down I'm so excited its nearly 1 year away Any more questions please ask x x x
  19. Hey thanks for the info!! Could you please send me a copy of the invoice so I can get a feel? I really appreciate it My email is: [email protected] Charlene x
  20. Hey, I'm getting married 27th September 2013 Happy Planning everyone! I'm trying to get in contact with the hotel so we can start planning the finer details...am I too early? So far Ive emailed twice with no response! Charlene
