um wow! can you plan my wedding please?? haha Youeway ahead of me and I'm only getting married 10 days later haha...you have got me motivated! I found really pretty silk white fans at Michaels, 18 for $15 i believe! one of my bridesmaids is going to personalize them for me. they fold up, so super easy to put in a suit case! I was looking for a personalized tumbler for our guests, but they are expensive! So i also was looking at the factory21 travel mugs! not sure what we are going with yet. One cool thing we bought recently was the centerpieces...they are from pier one. Match our theme perfectly and were cheap. The resort was going to charge $150 per centerpiece, so all said and done ours will be $40 ish each. Just going to be an issue getting them to Jamaica. lol they are big candles and bulky! Last year I found some white starfish at Dollarama , and of course when I need them they are no where to be found! But they said they may still get them in! I will keep you posted if I see any. I'm going to look into tshirts too, might try to make them myself...not sure yet!! So much to think about! Thanks for sharing your progress! Its amazing!

Hey! Awesome, im so pumped for our trip at the GPLH! We aren't doing welcome bags. We are paying a little extra to have some extra stuff put into the rooms when people arrive. And we are going to do a welcome letter and post card! But I love the idea of welcome bags! The knot.com has awesome stuff to put in them! We are going to do custom made tumblers too! The resort does welcome bags, but they are $$$ super pricy!

Close enough! lol I looked into that resort! Beautiful!!! Planning is in full swing for sure! Good to know! I will be ordering all my wedding favours soon!! What sites have you been looking at?

Congrats!!! I'm excited about our big day there and ive found the planning to be fun! There is an extra fee! We are paying $45 per person for the reception, and then there is the cost of an ipod stand or DJ and entertainment! what ever you decide to do!

We are doing a poseidon reception. We were orginally going with the blue lagoon but had a booking problem. But that being said i'm now SO excited about the poseidon! Its soo private on sunset cove beach and has amazing sunset views! Can't wait! the resort sent me some photos I can pass along if you like! maybe DM your email?

I totally agree! I sit back sometimes and think wow this has been a terrible experience. I just sent out my invites 2 weeks ago and all these people who were planning their vacation are saying wow we didnt know it was going to be so expensive...i dont think we can come WHEN ive sent out emails about price from day one. totally a frustraiting experience! and my biggest pet peeve is when people feel the need to tell you...everytime they talk to you, how expensive it is.. I KNOW!!! haha i just want to scream sometimes! But it will all work out, go for your dream wedding, we deserve it.. (thats my daily mantra haha )

WOW LADIES! i needed this thread! wowza...going through the exact same things right now! We talked about doing a destination LONG before we got engaged and everyone always LOVED that idea. and now...mind my language but shit show is what is has turned into lol My family is incredibly supportive and I don't think there is a family member on my side (including extended) that won't be there but his family is so mad at us about the price and taking it really personally and i feel terrible for the stress it has caused on us all! It;s been a rough 6 months of planning so far. But then I sit back and look at our details and remember I'm marrying best friend and thats all that matters..anyone else who joins in an extra bonus. But sometimes that easier said then done. I hate the feeling of friends avoiding you, and not wanting to talk to you about your wedding. I take offense to it lol I always get upset they would think that we would judge them for not having the money or just having different priorities. When you host a destination wedding you know that not everyone you love can make it. But this definitely helped me soo much! So thank you for starting this thread and making me feel better knowing y'all are in the same boat. Destination is such an amazing decision to make and I think people always think they need to pay out all this money for one day...but they dont look at the big picture, its not one day its a whole week of vacation. I also dont think people realize how much money you put into weddings that are local...they are pricy no matter what, so why not be in a beautiful location surrounded by people you love for the week with no worries. I personally think we all rock for our destination weddings! xo

Hello I'm also having my reception at the Poseidon! any luck finding pictures? I had the resort send me some, but unfortunately they weren't of a reception, just the restaurant empty.

Hello Everyone! We are getting married Jan.30/13 at the GPLH on the beach. Our reception was originally booked at the Blue Lagoon, but after a booking issue, we got switched to the Poseidon! At first I was pretty bummed about this but after doing some research and talking to the resort its beginning to look pretty nice actually. I just can't seem to find any reception pictures from there. So if anyone has had a reception there or is going to maybe post some replies! I would love to hear from you or see pics. The resort sent me some photos but I would like some outside comments! Thanks Courtney

hey! I'm going through a travel agent, so most of the communication is done through them but I know it took us weeks to get confirmed dates and such. They don't always repsond quickly, but my travel agent would just keep sending emails. Hold in there! Once you get that communication going it moves very quickly
