Hey Chiquita! We are still keeping all of the traditional stuff. We are having the cake cutting at Cocotal (small $35 cake for two) then heading to the beach for the reception. I added tiki torches and am bringing my own luminary bags and centerpieces for the small tables. We will have the resort announce us (and still hoping the cold fireworks can be used for this) and having our friend Di with his iPad. I gave him the songs that are a must (first dance, father daughter etc). But a priatr party on the beach is where we will be dancing. I cant walk in heels so its cery fitting for me to be barefoot in the sand :-) Just like Allie said there are no rules with this. You make it what you want. I'm having the photographer for 5 ish hours and getting a ton of disposable cameras for our guests to use to capture the fun. Who has been assigned as your WC?

Hey Chiquita! One thing I've realized trying to plan this whole thing is what I thought I originally wanted has changed quite a bit. I started off like you thinking I didn't want a reception, just the ceremony. I have since tweaked my plans. I'm only having about 16-18 guests but like you they are all very chill party hardy people. My FI had a very hard time understanding why we would pay for food at an AI resort. That's taken a little coaxing. We decided to have our dinner reception at Cocotal (free dinner included with wedding) then we are just doing the white glove on the beach which is around $15pp. That way we still have our reception with dancing and stuff but not for a crap ton of money. That will be from 7-9 and then we will go to all the other places within the resort to enjoy the free entertainment. We'll just rent the amp from them and have a friend of ours Di the music from his iPod. That saved us a ton of money and we are still getting the traditional stuff we wanted. Hope that helps and congratulations!!

I would be freaking out! Are you trying now to go lighter or darker? I had that happen right before I went on a cruise to the caribbean a couple years ago. The sun and saltwater actually ended up toning the blonde. It was originally extremely brassy and orange but by the end of the cruise it was platinum. Good luck! And make them eat the cost! Not cool! Allie she was very quick to respond to that question but that question only. And you are right. They will have to pay $72/ea. Oh well! But my other two big emails from two weeks ago have no response yet. Stina- how did it go? Can't wait to hear all the details! I'm getting te feeling from what Allie has also told me that EDR is one of the places they don't like open flame anywhere!

Allie you are so much more motivated than I am! I had my original dress fitting in March but I cancelled it because I wasn't sure if my body would be the same closer to the date. Granted my body type hasn't really change in the last 8 years but I was still too afraid. I have been taking Zumba classes like a mad woman! I have it set for sometime in August. I'm taking it to David's Bridal. All I need is for it to have a bustle put in and some gel pads for the girls too. I want to see pictures of your jewelry! I still can't decide what type of jewelry I want. And score for getting it at such a discount! I emailed Natalia today to inquire about the outside guests. I'm just wondering since we aren't really having a full on dinner for our reception, just the white glove cocktail so I wonder if that will be considered a private dinner event.

So jealous you will be there so soon! I know it will be phenomenal! I know I read somewhere that if you have outside guests but are holding a private event that their fee to get into EDR is waived but now I can't find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm just talking about the day of the wedding itself.

As for the cake selection we chose to do the $35 heart shaped cake for two since its merely the ritual of doing the cake cutting but with everybody already having dessert I could justify actually purchasing a big cake. I've never actually had a good tasting wedding cake anyway! The fondant always makes them disgusting! Yeah Allie and I are having a lovely time trying to get answers. And the live chat feature was offline all Friday-Tuesday so I "sent a message" using the live chat and have yet to get a response. That was Friday night, almost a week ago I can't use it while I'm at work and by the time I get home it's offline. Allie, can you bring your own floating lanterns or do you have to purchase them through lomas? $75 for 4 is a crock!

My FI asked me today if we were doing the Chinese wishing lanterns. Those are the ones that your guests write well wishes and prayers on them light them and they float up I to the air. He got the idea from The Hangover II and I do like the idea of it. However, Lomas offers them at $20 a pop. I found some on eBay for like $20 for 10! Do you think they would let me bring my own?
-
My idea was to have them go off when they introduce you at the reception... like when you walk in and they announce "Here is Mr and Mrs Wolfert" light them and that can be your entrance. That was my idea but I can't understand why they don't have them anymore. She quoted them to me a couple months ago but now is saying they don't do them anymore.

From what I can tell on Lomas' website (that's the company that you will be assigned to for your wedding arrangements) I see they have Caribe Photo, Magic Vision, Sarani, Mexican Wedding photography and Royale Photography. Go to weddingsbylomastravel.com and the planning and ideas sections will breakdown pricing.
