Hi Lola, What types of things are you taking and how are you packing them? If you are taking any cardboard boxes, call the airline to confirm that there are no box embargos for Mexico during the dates you are flying. They do that every now and then. Other than that, we flew AA with lots of stuff with no problems. Even when we got to MX, I pushed the red button and they didn't open my boxes, just checked my suitcase. It was painless (other than trying to lug all of that stuff around the airport). just be aware of what you can and cannot take in to Mexico (no starfish).

As far as my experience, I packed my wedding stuff in cardboard boxes and checked it with the airline. They asked me what was in the boxes and I told them maracas, gift bags, hand sanitizer, lotions, koozies, etc). They said OK and I never heard another thing about it. We landed in MX, our boxes were sitting there with our luggage at baggage claim. We went through immigration and nobody asked or seemed to care. The only issue was trying to carry all of it with only two of us. If you push the red button, the most they would want to do would be to look in your stuff quickly.

THANK YOU . . but NO STARFISH??? I have not heard that? And I have starfish decor for my chair sashes and napkin rings??!!??!! What do I do?

I plan to pack everything in suitcases.  And then dispense them among guests also, to not go over the $300 per person limit.

Did you put together your 'hangover kits' prior to leaving and travel with them like that? Or did you travel with everything seperate and then assemble bags there?

Thanks for the finds. I posted weddinglinensdirect.com here already. but I love their embroidered design linen.

I also used weddinglinensdirect.com. They had EXCELLENT service and practically next day delivery, without any inflated fees. Plus, for the price, their products were fabulous. My color was difficult to match so I purchaesd many samples . . I easily found several options that worked!

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  3. LOVE your photos, very gorgous! My dress is very similar. I have my first alterations fitting tomororow!!!!!

Do you have any more photos you can post, or even email me privately? [email protected]

I finally got settled into our new place after the wedding and I was able to post these pics as well!  I wanted to show anyone who is using Juan Navarro or his team how great they are!  We actually had Alex and Tony and we were very impressed with how wonderful they came out :)  I was reading a couple of pages back and saw some people wondering about using dinner at one of the restaurants as their reception.  We did the same thing and it was great, except for we did not care for the Italian restaurant.  We had our ceremony at the gazebo and it was beautiful!  We were on a budget so we opted not to do the cocktail hour, and honestly I feel like we made the right decision.  We were still taking pictures after everyone in the ceremony and other guests had finished their pictures with us, so they all went up to the lobby and mingled and had drinks from the bar and there was plenty of seating and a nice ambiance!  After dinner we still had too much time until the nightclub opened, and even though it was not in my plan everyone went to the Rock of Ages show until it opened.  It was nice!  I did change out of my wedding dress and into a short cocktail dress to dance because my dress was going to get so dirty!  It already had dirt on the bottom of it from the sand on the beach.  Trust me, you don't want to dance on your dress unless you don't care about that.  All in all, the wedding turned out wonderful.  There were just a few small things that did not go as planned, but I guess that is what you need to expect on a destination wedding.

Valeria is our wedding coordinator.  We have been emailing back and forth for about the past month starting to figure out some of the details and get some questions answered.  I asked her about the flowers.  Told her we were looking to do centerpieces (we'll probably have 5 tables) and some flowers for the ceremony location.  I asked her if I go through her or deal directly with the florist if I had specific ideas for what I wanted.  She told me to send her pictures and she would get me quotes.  So I sent her some pictures of bouquets and centerpieces to give her an idea of what I liked.  I heard from her about a week and a half later and besides giving me the prices for flowers on the aisle chairs and aisle petals (which are listed in the wedding guide) all she said was "No problem!" and "further details can be discussed at our meeting in the resort".   Really??  I guess I was hoping to get that part done before I got to Mexico.  What are the rest of you doing?  Did you or are you picking flowers before hand or when you get there?

Im working with Cecilia and then she got me in touch directly with Mayan Floral for exact quotes. We did this several months ago. I would ask for Mayan Floral information from Valeria to make sure no surprises!!!!

    1) Reception Recommendations - For an outside wedding reception, would you recommend the gazebo terrace, pool terrace, or garden?

    2) Music - Do it yourself sound system or DJ??  Which is the way to go?

    3) Rehersal Dinner - It sounds like you can't make reservations for a large group in the restaurant.  What about the bonfire idea??  I would like to get my guests together prior to the wedding, recommendations are welcome please. =)

    4) Has anyone done an alternative to wedding cake?  My finace hates cake (I know, Weird-O). =)  Any suggestions!

Thanks!! Can't wait to hear your recommendations!

    Karin (Denver, CO)

Hi Karin!!!! Congrats and Welcome :)! I am getting married in 80 days at SMB!!!!!  We have almost 40 guests booked already!!!!!

Here is what we are planning:

    1) Cocktail hour on the gazebo lawn, private reception at the gazebo terrace

    2) We are renting the sound system for the ceremony, Caribbean Trio for the cocktail hour, and we are having the DJ for 3 hours for the reception

    3) We are doing a "Welcome Bonfire" the night before the wedding on the beach from 8-10pm. Everyone can eat on their own and then join us for music (renting sound system), open bar, and dessert on the beach.

    4) We are using the wedding cake they provide. But I am sure you can work something else out. Ask Cecilia, she has been very helpful to me.

The quality is good.  I did them a little early because my Groupon was expiring but I'm happy with them! Hope it helps!

  7. So, who is doing (or has done) a pre-travel newsletter? That is my current project. I am creating a 'packing list' on vistaprint rack cards. Does anyone have a 'packging list' they can share. I want to be sure to include the dress code requriements on this packing list for the restaurants. Id love a template if anyone has one to share! Iam finally at 150 posts, and can see the templates, HALLELUJAH!

  8. IRONICALLY  . . . .I had a similar experience. I  began a distpute through ETSY and when I went to formally file through PAYPAY. . .I miraculously found a tracking nubmer saying it was to be delivered (and was just sent two days ago , yet they told me Jyly 12th) today. They were delivered today, and did look really good . . . . SOOOOO, still unhappy with the heartache I experienced and would not recommend the disapperring store of ALLTHINGSHANDCRAFTED by LOVE PASSION, but the product did EVENTUALLY ARRIVE!.

For some reason I can not find her Etsy shop anymore and I tried to reply to the email that was originally sent. I have not heard a thing. Sigh....I will keep checking and waiting and hoping that they arrive this week.

The link ya'll originally posted does not work anymore . . .  Was the shop "Allthingshandcrafted" by LovePassion???????

I ordered 6 hangers June 25th, recieved an email they were being shipped on July 12th . . .and have not received them. I have tried to contact the shop owner several times without luck. I have just put in a dispute request through ETSY. I have had such postiive experiences on ETSY, so sad about this. UGH!

Out of curiosity, which vows were used in the video, religious or not religious?  My FI and I aren't very religious, but would like some mention of God...  Do you know where I can find the scripts?

Roxanna has a generic script  . .  but I am writing my own ceremony completely that she is fine with performng for us!  You can use your own choice of mentions of God :)

Hey girlie!  That's really not too bad -- does that include shipping and setup?  Did they say that it would be long enough and stretch all the way across the back?  (since the new beach pergola is larger)

Are you using the new beach setup (the larger one)?  If so, would you hang the curtain on the back panel or on either side and leave the back open?  Just wanting some opinions!  Hope your planning is still going well!

This was the quote planner 1 gave me for them setting up just a back curtain of their own . . . without tying it back . .hanging down.
